| nevets3's Full Review: Sony STR-DB1070 6.1 Channels Receiver |
This receiver is terrific! I searched high and low for a replacement for my 10 year old Sony that had only a very early version of surround sound processing.
This unit has big power and big features for the money- including a great on-screen setup menu and plenty of inputs and outputs. Some of my favorite features are the auto format decoding (makes it much simpler for family/friends to use), easy source selection dial, and the component video switching! The look is clean- with many of the less-used controls hidden behind a pivoting front panel. The display is also uncluttered- and it has several brightness settings (including OFF) for home theater use.
The sound is clean and powerful. The volume control is very precise (almost too much so... it takes a while to significantly increase or decrease the volume... but I guess that's better than blasting the neighbors if you so much as bump the dial...)
I have had no problems decoding 5.1 sources (using optical connection) and every other feature has worked flawlessly as well.
