coverthitman's Full Review: Twisted Metal: Black for PlayStation 2
Finally, the Twisted Metal series gets handed to a developing team who knows what they're doing!
Graphics: Not too shabby, especially for an early PS2 game. It's all pretty dark and grimey, so you'll be seeing a lot of the same textures around the levels, but that's hardly what you'll be paying attention to.
Gameplay: It's all good. If you loved Twisted Metal 2, this will bring back some memories. You drive a car around and blow other people into little flaming specks, and what's better than that? The control scheme is easy, although it does take a litle getting used to and it's impossible to switch to the weapon you want on the fly, but the need for a particular weapon at a particular time is very slight because the action is very fast paced. As for the weapons, the old favorites are here and there are some additions to break up the actions, including ultimately difficult weapons to use, and for these you'll most certainly need to read the manual. What I would have personally liked to have seen is more realistic control for the cars. All the cars have different accelerations, armor, strength and speed, but they all control in a very RC Radioshack car sort of way. The selection of cars is good, even when you haven't unlocked all of them and there's a very good selection of levels. Unfortunately, the game may not be worth a rent for multiple players because you'll want to unlock all these levels to have some variety.
Sound: Pretty good. The screams are the best part. They make little girls giggle.
Value: It's only good if you're willing to put the time and effort into completing it. Otherwise, no really worth a rent.
Best of the twisted metal series created by the original producers great graphics for ps2, Platforms: PlayStation2, ESRB Rating: MatureMore at Amazon Marketplace
