This is a first impression review, having purchase from Ebay a few days ago for about $260. Solid construction, despite the plastic suprastructure. Screen size and brightness make an immediate impression! I upgraded with an additional 256 memory module, and is quite zippy, but is not bad with the 128 stock. Despite what I read about PC-133 memory module incompatibility, the Kahlon module for about $35 works. The DVD drive is A-OK (no hesitation when running) and the floppy is also an asset, in my opinion. No problem with additives; my 40 GB USB-powered external hard drive plugged into one of the two USB ports is very handy to substantiate the relatively light-weight 15 GB stock drive. The "budget" feel is apparent with the weak speakers, but is remedied with external speakers. Though it was a bear in getting the wireless card set up (much patience was required with Belkin support staff), it works well. This is one quiet unit! The used battery doesn't even make it to boot-up, so what I've read about the battery life's shortcoming may be true. I purchased this as a "back-up" laptop to use in the office, so the battery issue isn't a big deal for me. I'm not expecting big things with a new battery, but hope for longer than the 30 minutes reported by other reviewers.
