A great system. A GREAT GREAT system. I've paid more for this system this year than I have on my education, and I think I've also gotten more out of this system than I have for my education. In fact, I'm dropping out of college RIGHT NOW so I can spend day after day drooling over my sweet baby. Ok, I can't say that it's FLAWLESS, but it is definitely great.
512 MB of ram will make you LAUGH at your old computer's loading times and how quickly you can actually PLAY those games you installed, rather than wait several minutes for the program to fully begin.
80G of space is like having three square city blocks to park your VW Bug in. Well, actually, modern games can sometimes take up to 2G of space to install, but even then you would need 40 of these high-end games installed simultaneously to use up the space. Or 20,000 4 min long mp3's.
And should you happen to use of your precious space, you can always just shoot some stuff over to a 700MB cd-r with that sweet, sweet DVD-RW drive. That's right, DVD-RW. Ah. Doesn't that alone just make you feel at one with the world? It's entirely possible in this day and age to get 50 cd-r's for $5-$10, which means if you sacrifice that triple-mongo burger meal or skim a little bit off grandma's heart transplant operation money, you can have an extra 35,000M, or 3.5G at your disposal. Or you could just buy one DVD-RW with a whopping 4.7G of space on it. Because, that's right, you'll have yourself a DVD-RW drive. Yeah!
Definitely look at this computer or one in its line if you're a gamer. My old 220 MHz computer with 96M of RAM could clunkily run Baldur's Gate II with the lowest settings. I set everything to the highest possible variables with the Vaio and it wasn't close to using half of its limits. We're talking detailed lighting and shadows, amazing colors and great video quality.
Ok, I'll briefly mention the CONS, and then I'll let you go.
If you try to run something the second the comp boots up it has the possiblity for freezing for several minutes or until you restart. I've had a few programs that when I try certain functions they will simply blink out, as if I never ran them. The programs it comes with are generally light versions of larger programs. This is the case with Adobe Premiere and Photoshop, and Sonic DVDit! For all of these problems save the latter one, it may have been what I have installed and not the compute itself. The only other problems I've had I KNOW are not the system's fault.
And did I mention the DVD-RW? It's seriously a great burner, not just because of its DVD-burning abilities. It's very speedy with CD-R's and read's DVD-Rom discs fine, I've found no problems with it so far.
Get the Vaio. It's great. NOTHING ELSE MATTERS.
