Could have been a much better laptop!

Pros: good screen, 3 USB ports, 40GB HDD, P4 1.6GHz, High Speed DVD-CDRW
Cons: noisy disk, noisy keyboard, memory limited to 512MB, no InfraRed port
The Bottom Line: Avoid. Get an LCD monitor for $500 and another laptop for $2000 (sony/toshiba/dell)

I was impressed by the beautiful screen and had to get this laptop. However after using it for the past 2 weeks, I realized that a 16 inch screen is worth less if it cannot be used with other computers.
Hence ideally I would go for an LCD monitor if I need a bigger screen. With this laptop the screen is not reusable.
What it came with:
1. 16 inch awesome screen.
2. 512MB DDR RAM Max.
3. DVD RW ( one of the faster ones for a laptop)
4. 40GB HDD
5. 3 USB, 1 FIREWIRE, 1 MEMORY STICK DRIVE, Parallel Port, Video Out, Modem, PC Card slot, built net network port.
6. P4 1.6GHz
7. RADEON graphics chip with 32MB DDR.
8. Jog Dial ( Not sure if it works with W2K)
I would pass this one for the following reasons:
1. No Infra Red port for quick sync with my Palm.
2. Real bad hard drive. After sending it for service once, it still is noisy.
3. keyboard is noisy.
4. DVD drive can make lot of noise if not properly closed after inserting a disk.
5. Memory is limited to 512MB.
6. Poor sound/No volume control.
7. The touchpad sucks!
8. No serial port
9. Floppy optional
If you want to buy this one, I would suggest following accessories:
1. USB Portable Flash Memory (alternative to floppy drive) - 32MB for $30.
2. USB Infrared or Serial interface for Palm/other devices.
