When looking for desktop speakers, there are two schools of thought; either people want something great and inexpensive, or they want the roomy and expensive subwoofer. The choice is yours, but by reading these Epinions reviews, you are doing the right thing: the checklist.
What you get:
Large edition of the popular Labtec mini stereo speakers (because they also come in the smaller size model). This user-friendly and easy to set up model is a wise choice. Speakers use a power plug, so they are amplified for better sound quality and depth. The few wires are conveniently long enough to set up the speakers around your computer. Added commodity is the easy-to-reach Power button, bass button, treble button, headphones jack and ... yes! a microphone jack, all accessible at the front of the speaker, which is excellent. Each speaker has a bass port to let out the good vibes. Some people may find connecting the wires a bit tricky, although I could figure it out all by myself, thanks to the color for each jack.
The speakers are compatible with virtually all systems, mainly with regular or high-end sound cards, like 5.1 SoundBlaster cards. Frequency Response: 70Hz - 20kHz; Power Output: 5.0 watts RMS (2.5w + 2.5w).
My Epinion:
I have had these great speakers for over a year and I never had a complain. They are well built and last for long. Their design is fresh and never seems to die off. Personally, I didn't want any roomy woofers and the hassles of them wires. I mainly use my speakers for listening to music, movies or with my microphone headset, and they do the job fine. Although they may not be the best speakers out there, the value ratio is excellent: better than average quality for a low price.
I would not hesitate to recommend those to people with moderate-to-advanced use, although die-hard gamers and perfectionists may prefer the more expensive woofer systems. But this has all I need. My Labtec speakers may be too big if you are working in a small cubicle near work buddies, which is a good sign.
An alternative to the stereo Labtec would be those smaller stereo speakers that come with Dell computers (Harman/Kardon), which also offers stunning sound quality for their size.
So, do I recommend the Labtec Spin? Yup!
