"Great news! Your bum need not be numb just because of your riding habits!" Lisa_J, mountain bike novice
Specialized BG Comfort
Aka: Specialized Butt Gear Comfort
Designed for the rider interested in improved comfort and tushy health, Specialized Body Geometry bike saddles are a terrific choice for the novice and recreational bike rider. This seat has gel inserts and a suede cover. It's design is ergonomically correct.
Knowing that I would initially need all the persuasion possible to endure the many bike adventures that he envisioned for the family, my darling husband purchased two of these seats.
My reaction was mixed. After all, what I knew about the Specialized Body Geometry saddle was the advertising prospect toting this cushy seats ability to avoid numb nuts. Not being equipped with that sort of anatomy, I shivered toward the benefit I would receive. My endurant (and frustrated) significant other quickly showed me the literature indicative that this saddle was for the female gender as well.
Jeez, he first had me try the Specialized Body Geometry saddle by placing it onto the ground and having be place my tush onto it. Yah right, like that would be indicative of the real ride. “Okay, install the obscure thing,” I declared. This declaration being stated after he assured me the biking world didn’t taunt these as pleasurable. I certainly didn’t want others to think I was trying to obtain pleasing effects from a bike seat! Still hesitant, I agreed to succumb on one of the daily biking adventures Kev planned.
Understand that as much as I like biking, MS & Fibromyalgia often prohibit me from venturing on the lengthy excursions my two daughters and dear hubby venture to. Perhaps with this added comfort accessory, I would have an advantage. This particular Spring day was a comfortable 67`, the clouds were blue, and I was having a good health day.
The trail we would adventure onto was a novice course. Paved, some inclines, definitely noted as a family trail zone. We chose to begin in Lake Stevens, and persevere to Snohomish. Kev and the girls assured me the milkshakes available at the hub drive-in (end of trail) were worth the ride. Ah, right?! Whatever! But, who was I to let down the family?! So, I played along and inquired if this drive-in provided blackberry. Assured that they did, I agreed to succumb to this adventure. After all, my tushy should be cushy, milk shake awaited, and even more important the gleeful smirks of the family.
After unloading four bikes, all the safety gear, many other biking accessory paraphernalia, and two over excited children, we were ready to venture on. My thought process was of course thinking ~ doah, like you should have tried a tiny ride first. Oh well, not going to be a party pooper.
Let me tell you, we did make it to trail end. The Specialized Body Geometry saddle was comfortable and did provided for a non-numbing ride. Yes, even women can experience numbing annoyances in the perineum area.
This is caused by prolonged compression of the pubic area. Some urology experts claim that repeated occurrences may lead to sexual consequences in men and women. So, that numb bum is telling you something!
For men, this issue is thought to cause erection dysfunction. Because my husband installed one of these seats fairly soon after gaining an interest in the sport of cycling, I really don’t have any concrete evidence for you (thank goodness). My husband tells me that whether on mountain trails, paved family friendly excursions, or other mountain bike adventures, he has not experienced numbness or other challenges in the sensitive areas. However, he did say that the couple of short ventures he endured prior to saddle exchange left his
Kevin is pleased with his Specialized Body Geometry saddle 2 years later. It has endured many ventures and continues to persevere. My seat was exchanged out due to vanity purposes. Technology is ever changing and one came to a storefront that was more appealing to my female eye. Nonetheless, while using this seat, I say it performed very well. It is just strange looking, and I couldn’t get past the abundance of male issues that adhere to it. Vain I know, but what the heck.
In conclusion, I highly recommend the Specialized Body Geometry saddle! The tender area is ever too precious to succumb damage from the sport of cycling. I also feel that seats like this address other pertinent ergonomically correct issues. Kevin’s bicycle buddies claim they not only experienced better crotch health, that also their backs and knees felt better.
The purchase price for the ergonomically correct Specialized Body Geometry saddle was approximately $90.00. My husband is so pleased with his seat that he purchased one for a friend that was set to go the MS ride in our region. This buddy reported a great fondness for the switchover!
So, don’t take any chances ~ switch over to ergonomically correct! Your jewels are worth it!
Happy cycling!
