Pros: Works fast, kills a wide variety of weeds, and priced pretty good as well.
With the spring coming on strong, I noticed I was getting a few weeds that were starting to grow in my yard. Obviously, I was in need of something help me out, so I decided to give Spectracide Weed Stop Concentrate a try.
I picked out Spectracide Weed Stop Concentrate for two reasons. First of all, this product lists over 150 different kinds of weeds that it will kill, and it was also on sale for $9.99 for a 32 ounce bottle of the concentrate.
I know I had dandelions in my yard, but I also didn't know what the other weeds were. Seeing as this product had so many different types of weeds that it kills, I figured it would probably do the trick on almost anything in my yard. This product is designed to kill almost all types of broadleaf weeds without killing your grass. It also says that it will work on a wide variety of different grasses, but that it should not be used on Floratam or other varieties of St. Augustinegrass in Florida. (kind of makes you wonder why only in Florida)
Seeing that this product is concentrated, you must mix this with water. The included instructions instruct you on how many ounces of weed killer per 1 gallon of water should used. For most applications, all the you need is 1 or 2 ounces of the concentrate mixed with 1 gallon of water to cover 500 sq. ft. The side of the bottle is marked in ounces so that you don't have to guess at how much you are mixing. Spectracide Weed Stop Concentrate can be used with almost any type of the sprayer. I use a hand held 1 gallon sprayer for using this to spot treat weeds in my yard.
Some tips for using this are.
Spray when weeds are actively growing.
Cut your lawn two or three days before treating your weeds.
So that it doesn't harm the lawn, do not spray a drought stressed lawn.
Do not water lawn after treatment, or use if it is going to rain soon.
Do not use this product on a newly seeded lawn.
If some tough weeds are still alive after three weeks,
I mainly use this product by just walking around my yard and spraying whatever weeds that I see. This product really does work as it claims. You really do see results in just a few hours. I have used Spectracide Weed Stop on my yard in the morning, and have seen the weeds starting to wilt by the afternoon. It really seems to have worked good on the dandelions in my yard. I have noticed though that on some of the weeds (I don't know what they were) that this product seemed to have started working as the weeds were starting to die, but didn't completely kill them off. I just gave those another treatment, and that seemed to do the trick. I also noticed that this product did not harm my grass in any way.
A product such as this obviously contains chemicals that are hazardous for people and pets. It is best keep your kids and pets off a treated the lawn for a day or two.
This product is worked very well for me, and I am sure that I would purchase it again.
