videodude's Full Review: Speed Stick Deodorant Regular: 3.25 oz
Off and on, I've been using Speed Stick Deodorant Regular for about 10 years now. It's not a bad product and in the waves of mass produced, all too well known commercial products one sees on today's shelves ranging from Degree to Arm & Hammer to Axe, it's no surprise that Speed Stick can be proudly counted among the masses as another deodorant.
Speed Stick isn't outstanding per se. It's like a cheap thrill but it's under three bucks. I'm not expecting anything fancy because let's face it, I'm paying $2.50 for a product that's going to give me what I want. Will it give me long lasting protection? Define such a term and whatever I provide for an answer, probably won't fulfill the fact that it provides long lasting protection. But most men's deodorant products function the same way, so nothing's terribly different. If you want to splurge for the expensive stuff that you can find at a Body Shop or a Whole Foods, then you have every right to. But I'm a bargain shopper and I know full well that I treat deodorant as a necessary everyday thing without much charm or pizzaz. It's just something that's going to give me what I need, and that need just happens to not involve smelling badly.
Here's what I like about Speed Stick, starting off with it's no frills appearance. It's not aiming to be hip like Axe or their oversexed innuendo-filled commercials. Now seriously as a guy, if using that product caught the attention of dozens of attractive females, you can bet your butt that I'd be buying that stuff by the units. But this is real life and I hardly think a man's deodorant is going to suffice as an aphrodisiac. It just so happens that the folks at Axe have a clever enough ad campaign. But then again, I don't see many ads focusing on men's deodorant and it's not something I pay attention to either. But getting back to Speed Stick, to me it's like an old reliable. It's something that's there, when you need it for it's one single purpose: to provide a good deodorant. The appearance is unassuming and unpretentious, which I can appreciate. Not to mention, the price is cheap.
But getting to the specifics, Speed Stick has a relatively nice masculine smell. It's not overpowering like a lot of other men's deodorants. It's subtle but it's just enough to indicate that a man could wear this. This ladies and gentlemen, is definitely strong enough for a man. With it's clear, turquoise-colored appearance, the regular Speed Stick deodorant is an effective product to only making a man smell better. I usually switch up brands when it comes to personal hygiene by way of exploration. I've used Degree which I really enjoy, just as much a I enjoyed Arm & Hammer. But what I don't enjoy is the pasty residue left by these products on my armpits and on my clothes. I haven't used these products in a while, so maybe things have changed. I don't want to blow the money on Axe, because I don't think it will provide what I want and I don't feel like using any other product. I've preferred Speed Stick the brand over other names, because it doesn't leave any kind of residue on myself or my clothes, and it has a pleasing smell that's not unpleasant to the senses.
Of course when you perspire, the natural action is for the deodorant to kick in, and Speed Stick does just that, without overpowering it's subject. I admire that about the product, seeing as to how I don't want it to overwhelm me. Speed Stick is a cheap thrill but it's effective to the point where body odor shouldn't be an issue. That's precisely what I'm looking for.
