Pros:DURABLE, simple ONE PIECE construction and EASY to use.

Cons:I do not see how it could be improved.

The Bottom Line:

The Spine-Worx is a simple and helpful PAIN RELIEF aid.  I absolutely recommend it.

UPDATE: I told my dentist about the Spineworx about 3 weeks ago. He told me today that it is working so good for him that he is buying them and sending them to his family in Taiwan, and he is telling his Doctor friends about them!

I have disintegrating disks, ruptured disks, and herniated disks in my neck and lower back.  These disks bulge out from time to time and the result is pinched nerves.  I was diagnosed with the disintegrating disks as a teenager.  I was in an auto accident that resulted in rupturing and herniating other disks about 20 years ago.  I've been living with these issues for a long time and therefore I have figured out ways to resolve my pain because I do not wish to have surgery if I can avoid it.

That said, I have tried a lot of things for relief.  This review is specifically about the benefits I receive from my use of the Spine-Worx.

I bought my first Spine-Worx several years ago to see if I could get easier relief from it than I was getting from the Ma-Roller.  If you are not familiar with the Ma-Roller you can find how to use them at http://www.TheMaRoller.com under HOW TO USE.  If you look at that, you will understand why I was impressed by the SIMPLICITY of the Spine-Worx.  Using the Ma-Roller requires a lot more body movement, not to mention a CLEAN FLOOR!  Sometimes my body hurt too much to move a lot.  Other times, I guess my muscles were so tight that it was difficult to relax on the Ma-Roller so it was very painful. I would rate the Ma-Roller excellent for KEEPING in good shape, but difficult if you have a lot of pain.  I have recently been using my Spine-Worx several times a day.  I believe perhaps now I could use the Ma-Roller with less pain.  I will give that a try later and see if it's true!

When I first tried my Spine-Worx, I noticed it was necessary to be careful to get it positioned correctly before laying down.  I have found that once you practice a couple times carefully, you get a good sense of how to scoot it up to you, and then lay down slowly.  You can "verify" correct position by gently rocking side to side.  If you are on it correctly you will feel the ridges on each side of your spine.

Once you are correctly positioned all you need to do is relax.  If you have very tight muscles you may find it difficult to relax.  In that case, you will "protect" the sore spots by not relaxing in that spot!  Then, you will notice you can relax a little more each minute.  If you have very tight muscles, and you just plop down on the Spine-Worx, it could feel really painful!  I advise all movements to be very slow and easy until you are familiar with how YOUR back responds.

I am currently working through a difficult time with my spine.  I was having severe chest pains that I believed to be associated with something "out" in my back and sure enough, pulling out the Spine-Worx in the middle of the night has given me relief!  That got me to thinking I should probably use it therapeutically, rather than ONLY when I was in pain!  I am currently using it at least 3 times per day for 10 minutes each time.  This is working very well for me.

When I use it regularly, it's a snap to position correctly and my muscles are so relaxed that there is absolutely no pain at all.  I can even rock side to side to apply extra pressure.  I should mention that I use it on my bed rather than on the floor.  I would recommend using it on the bed first until you can relax easily on it.  Then, rock side to side for some additional pressure.  If that is not enough, THEN use it on a hard surface like a floor.

A few years ago I got tired of having to pack up the Spine-Worx when we travel between homes.  I left it behind.  Naturally, my back went out and NEEDED it!  So, I did not hesitate to buy a second one!  I now have one in each home to be sure I am never without it!

I find the Spine-Worx to be a very valuable PART of my personal "Spine Therapy" program.  The Spine-Worx may be all that many people need to help keep their spine aligned.  I find it much more beneficial than going for Chiropractic treatments. I HATE being popped!  And even after I am, I find that it is such a temporary fix for me.  I do not like having to rely on someone else.  I prefer to be in control of giving myself relief!

For me, I have also found INVERSION therapy very helpful.  I have owned an inversion bed for years and enjoy rocking on the bed.  A few years ago I bought a different piece of equipment for inversion and have found it even more helpful for me.  You can check it out at http://www.backrevolution.com.

My personal RELIEF system includes a quick 1 minute hang on the Back-Revolution followed by 10 minutes on the Spine-Worx.  I believe that by allowing the space between my vertebrae to stretch out while on the Back-Revolution, the Spine-Worx is able to work even BETTER for me.  The third part of my personal routine is to use the Magnassager up and down my spine.  You can read my review on the Magnassager and view that item at http://www.magnassager.com/.

While my system includes 3 separate items, I do believe that the Spine-Worx used alone is very beneficial.  I often just lay on it for a couple minutes without doing any inversion first.  This is not an expensive piece of equipment and yet it is very helpful.  I have found it a very valuable investment in my personal pain management program!

UPDATE:
Someone asked whether the SpineWorx will work for any height person.  It measures 8.5" wide by 24" long.  I am 5'7" and my husband is 6' tall.  We both use it and we are both comfortable on it. I imagine it would work just fine for most men and women. The ridges that align the spine have very gentle sloping curves.  By adjusting it up or down you can find the most comfortable position for you.  If you are VERY SHORT and it feels as though it is too long for you, you can put a pillow under your head to raise it up so that your neck will be supported and your will spine will still benefit while your head and neck can be comfortable.  If you are VERY TALL and it feels as though it is not long enough because it does not reach all the way up to your neck, you can actually turn it upside down to increase the pressure on your upper spine.  I don't know if this is recommended by the manufacturer, but when my shoulder blades are hurting I have used it upside down and it has felt good!  If it hurts I don't do it!

The blue base of the SpineWorx is made from a hard durable plastic however the yellow ridges that should be on each side of your spine are made from a softer cushioning material that is still very durable but softer and comfortable to lay on.
