The Bottom Line: Pick up a 4 pack of these Splash Bombs on clearance today at your favorite toy or discount store before they are gone for another year!

Just last weekend, my older son, Kameron, celebrated his 12th birthday. And since we had a 30 foot round above ground swimming pool installed last year, he's had a pool party for his birthday two years in a row now. So after inviting a few of his friends over, they spent most of the day playing and goofing off in the water. And the pool toys they ended up playing with the most? Why none other than these popular Splash Bombs, of course! We've collected many over the years, and I just recently picked up a new four pack of these at my local Wal-Mart on clearance as I do every year to save for the next swimming season coming up next year. Read on to find out more about these cool splash balls that make summer time water play a blast!

~~~The Splash Bombs~~~
Each one of these baseball sized Splash Bombs contain a different colorful design and are constructed of a foam material wrapped in fabric so that they absorb plenty of water before being thrown. They are as light as air when dry, but can be quite heavy when saturated with water. Some are orange and black in color while others are green, yellow, hot pink, or red. When soaked with cold water, these fun summer time toys can offer a shocking surprise to any unsuspecting victim. According to product advertising they are like water balloons, only better because they never break! Soak with water and toss for a wild game of tag or catch on a hot day. These colorful balls are approximately 2.75 inches in diameter and would also make great toys for pets as well. Kids love getting wet and making sure everyone else around them is wet in the process as well. So these Splash Bombs are the perfect choice when convincing bored kids on summer vacation that they need to go OUTSIDE to play for a change.
~~~Price & Availability~~~

Now is the time of year to find these Splash Bombs in the 4 pack as well as larger and smaller sizes on clearance so that you can stock up for next year. I purchased ours for around $3 at our local Wal-Mart, so they are definitely affordable yet are usually only sold seasonally with other pool and water toys. They offer hours of fun all on their own, but other accessories like paddles can be purchased to make playing with these wet splash balls that much more entertaining. ~~~Our Experience~~~

Kameron and his friends chose teams during his recent pool party and they made up a game similar to dodge ball in which any player hit by a Splash Bomb was out and the last boy standing (his team) was the winner. They had load of fun soaking the balls with water and then throwing them across the pool at each other. The colorful balls actually float in the water, so they are easy to grab onto when stray balls are collected. And my younger 4 year old son, Tristan, actually got in on the action as well by throwing a few into the water from the round pool deck we have. He thought it was the most wonderful thing soaking his brothers and his friends even though they quickly soaked him in return with return shots. So while we mostly use our Splash Bombs in our backyard swimming pool, they can also be played with like water balloons as they soak whoever or whatever they happen to come in contact with when wet.

~~~Overall Recommendation~~~
If you happen to find these Splash Bombs on clearance, stock up and give a few out to your kids now and then save the rest for next year as this simple toy can provide hours of wet fun to thrill seeking boys. The fabric does tend to fade some in the sun or when it comes in prolonged contact with chlorinated pool water, but they'll still look great well into their first season of use. Other shapes are available as well, including larger footballs, so pick up a variety of these water toys while you are at it. So for us, Kameron's recent pool party was a success and I give these Splash Bombs alot of the credit! Just tell the adults to stay out of the way of stray balls (especially if thrown with lots of force) as you WILL get wet whether you like it or not. Good luck and happy toy shopping :-)
