| 42ENGLISH's Full Review: Spring Air Back Supporter Mattress |
I bought a queen-size Acclaim Back Supporter mattress about two years ago. I paid $679.30 plus tax which was a great deal at a furniture warehouse clearance sale.
I had been having problems with back pain and thought, well, maybe this will help. I sat on it and it seemed firm but soft, much different than my current bed which you could just lose yourself in.
You know how you feel when you first lie on a new bed and just want to feel so comfortable you could fall right to sleep. I anticipated this and was shocked to feel just how hard this mattress was. I tossed and turned and just could not get comfortable the first night. I seriously felt like I had slept on a concrete floor, not a good feeling.
The following night, I slept on the couch but realized I had to face my monster.
In the introductory folder I received with the bed, it said, “it could take up to three months to grow accustomed to the firmness of this bed.” I think this should have been printed on the price tag or any other form of “on the floor” advertising. It really took about two months for me to get used to this bed. I still find it uncomfortable at times but nevertheless, I do not get the backaches I used to have.
This mattress does not have a pillow top but is very well made and I am not seeing any sagging after two years of use. It actually looks like new.
Spring Air recommends that you replace box springs whenever you buy a mattress (which I did). Also to use a bed frame with a center support as this can really affect the comfort level.(which I did).
Something I found a little strange|: If the mattress gets soiled, it voids the warranty. What do they do, recycle? Makes you wonder, huh?
On the whole, the bed has been what it was advertised to be, a “back supporter” but are you willing to give up comfort for support? That is the question as far as this bed goes.
