I purchased a queen mattress 12/5/2005. Instructions that came with the mattress suggested turning the mattress. Initially the mattress was very comfortable. But within three to four months I noticed the mattress was beginning to sink in the middle. I called the store where I purchased the mattress to inquire about the warranty. I was told I needed to contact the manufacturer and schedule an inspection. It took some doing but I finally got the inspection.
Upon seeing the mattress, the inspector immediately noticed the compression prior to taking any measurements. The inspection consisted of the following: Take a string with a weight on the end throw it across to mattress, in my case across the width of the bed, over the compressed area. The inspector then took out a tape measure, placed it on top of the mattress and took photos. I mentioned, that there was no weight on the bed so I felt that was not an accurate measure of the compression. I also told the inspector that I was sleeping on the edge of the bed because that was the only area of support the bed provided. The middle of the bed is soft and would make my back hurt. I literally would roll towards the center of the bed the compression was so deep. Oh, did I mention this was suppose to be a "back support" mattress. HA!
Spring Air's response: Depth impressions are with in tolerance. Measurements are 1/2" at the top, 1" in the middle, and 3/8" at the bottom. The inspection too place in May 2005 I received the report in July 2005.
