There is no mystery - the Sprint Touchpoint PCS / CDMA phone is manufactured in Vista, California by Denso Wireless, part of Denso International. Denso is a multi-billion dollar Japanese company. A leader in car components, electronic components and telecommunications.
Please look at the following website, it gives a full overview of Denso Wireless and of course the SPRINT Touchpoint phones:

There are two models now available:
1. SPRINT PCS Touchpoint Phone - this is a PCS phone only, with no analog capability, this phone is known as the EAGLE-10 phone. This model (PCS only) is being PHASED OUT - with the introduction of newer models. Sound quality and clarity are excellent - as you would expect with PCS / CDMA format.
2. Dual-band SPRINT PCS Touchpoint Phone - this looks the same as the other model, but has analog capabilities to allow roaming when not in a PCS area. This phone is known as the EAGLE-12 phone. It is DATA/FAX ready (you will be able to browse/download e-mail/faxes etc). It has some extra features such as more ringers and Personal Information Manager. Sound quality and clarity are excellent - as you would expect with PCS / CDMA format. When used in analog mode, the quality is as good as the reception area allows.
THE BEST features of this phone - both phones have the same basic features (the EAGLE-12 dual-band is DATA/FAX ready)
a. The 'unique' Mouse-Navigation System - this is both practical and cool! More important (for the dual-band EAGLE-12) - when data downloads / fax downloading is commonplace, the mouse will make it easy to navigate.
b. The 7 line LCD display - this is great for locating numbers etc - too often the display is too crowded on phones. Of course (for the dual-band EAGLE-12) - when data downloads/e-mail capabilities are fully introduced, this display will be a lifesaver.
c. The BUILD QUALITY - I have been lucky enough to see the manufacturing process for this phone. It is quite simply the best built phone I have seen. There are no cheap parts, it was designed as a CDMA phone and is built in Vista, California. It is sturdy, hard wearing and feels solid. You can drop this phone with a reasonable chance of it surviving.
THE WORST features of this phone - both phones have the same features (the EAGLE-12 dual-band is DATA/FAX ready)
a. The WEIGHT - it is not the lightest phone!
b. SIZE - because of the size of the display and the mouse, it is a full-size phone.
GOSSIP - look out for the next generation of smaller phones by Denso - early next year, these will have the same (and more!) features as the EAGLE-12 dual-band, but smaller and lighter.
