Pros: Great location in the building with the , informative and fun International Spy Museum.
Cons: Poor hot dog. Hard to find seating. No service.
The Bottom Line: This place had OK food at reasonable prices. The soda price was too much for me. I like service and this place doesn't offer any.

| popsrocks's Full Review: Spy City Cafe |
I recently went to the International Spy Museum in Washington DC. It was a fun and interesting experience. After spending nearly three hours there after earlier visiting Ford's Theater, this man was hungry.
Right next door to the museum and actually part of the same building is the very convenient Spy City Cafe. This place opens at 8AM and closes 6PM. That means you could eat something there before the museum opens at ten. (March Hours) but it closes at the same time as the museum.
This is pretty much a limited deli type fare. They try and keep with the tone and mood of the museum with signs stating, Disguise them any way you want That was in reference to all the topping for hot dogs. You can get a Hebrew National brand dog with any five dressing for $3.50.
A Red Square dog with dijon mustard, Chili Sauce, Red cabbage, slaw and red peppers is the same price. Other choices just to give you the names are MI-5 Dog, Eastern Bloc, Havana Dog and All-American dog The idea is cute but it doesn't travel very far.
Also offered are Reuben sandwiches, ($6.95) Roast beef,($6.50) Chicken Caesar Wraps,($6.25) Tuna Wraps ($6.50)or just a plain peanut butter and grape jelly sandwich. $3.50
Salads, soups and sides are available. They also have breakfast It's $4.50 for the Spy Breakfast of two scrambled eggs with American cheese, roasted potatoes and bacon.
The atmosphere is slick looking all modern and chrome. Very cool!! Small high top table grace the middle areas and the small booths line the outside wall. This is a place your order at the register and find your own seating place. No service. The register is near the entrance and you pick up the paper menu there. The counter where the foods are cooked and prepared is open so you can watch them working. The area seemed clean as did the way the workers presented themselves and the fast foods.
I made the mistake of trying a Langly dog (Chopped white onions and shredded cheddar cheese). It tasted like it was cooking forever, and the onions on that baby were a bit much for me. I'm usually liking them but for some reason... I almost fell over when I took a 12 oz bottled drink out of the fridge area and they said $2.50! That's where they make their money, the drinks.
Also offered were some sweet desserts including cookies, brownies, assorted pastries an d fresh fruit salad $3.50.
Next time I'll wait a little longer and wear a disguise without a thick mustache so I can enjoy a couple a dogs at a street vendor for the same price the one overcooked dog was here. I'll save on the soda too. I mean, this wasn't a sit and get served place. One had to fight use deceptive spy skills to find a table. It's gotta be murder with kids ordering, getting sodas separate, and finding seats when there are just small booths.
Nah, the Spy City Cafe just didn't do it for this guy. Spies don't make enough money for $2.50 sodas.
