Re: squire as good as a real fender strat? the man is crazy. (Reply to this comment)
by blac1179
I have been playing for 25 years and the Squier Standard line Strats are amazing for ANY player. It is a given that an Indonesian or Chinese built guitar will need a neck realingment, tightening, and a thorough set up, but MIM Standard Strats will need this too. However, once the initial tweaks are done, the Squiers can play and sound as good as any Mexican or most American made Strats. I have heard semi-pros play Squiers and other lower-priced brands and blow me away with their tone and nuance. Tone is very subjective, and I do respect all opinions on these guitars. Thanks.

Squiers worth more than their MSRP (Reply to this comment)

I agree with Dr.P. Squiers are much better than people would have you believe. Being blinded by the price tag prevents you from experiencing the true tonal quality of a Squier. People just assume inexpensive = poor quality. This simply isn't true.

squire as good as a real fender strat? the man is crazy. (Reply to this comment)

i've been playing a lefty squire for several years -- mainly because i cannot afford a better guitar -- i've been playing for 32. i have had to have the neck worked on three times and the pickups were installed backwards. a squire strat is a beginners guitar. if the initial reviewer were playing somewhere and he had a couple of gibsons and a real strat, but chose to play the squire because he somehow thought the sound was better -- i'd leave because i'd consider him tone-deaf -- if not an idiot. like i said, the squire is a beginners' guitar. if you purchase one, plan on spending an additional $50 to get it well tuned (align the neck, square up the bridge, etc).
at least that way you'll be able to keep it tuned. the tuners are however, another issue altogether.

strat (Reply to this comment)

im surprised about what you say. i have the same strat and at first i thought it was great. now after a year i notice slight problems. one is the whammy is unusable. if i touch it it will detune. next, i cant bend the strings alot. i play blues and classic rock, like stevie ray vaughan and jimi hendrix, and i do a great deal of bending. but on this guitar, the strings break. thats not normal. next is the guitar doesnt sustain as i want it to. thats cos of the finish, but nowadays all guitars are like that. so, i think this guitar is AWESOME for begining players, but then, you need to get another guitar more suited for your style. im thinking of buying an american vintage 57 strat.
thanks for reading yall.
oh and by the way, i have a question for george_chabot: you selled your 1957 stratocaster guitar? wow...

I think so, too. I can't see paying $1,300 - 1,600 just so it says Made in USA on the guitar. The pickups may be a smidge better on the USA model, but heck you can change them out pretty easily if you want to. Thanks, bud!

The newer Squiers are better than most people realize. Great review.
