Pros: nice texture and smell, no animal tests, works to improve and relieve skin
Cons: dries my skin up too much, design allows water to collect in lid, big grains
The Bottom Line: This scrub works well exfoliating, has a nice texture and pleasant smell, but do not use it with dry or very thin/sensitive skin.

| djork's Full Review: St. Ives Apricot Scrub |
Since trying the Proactive acne set which included a facial scrub, I found myself at the store shelves searching for other scrubs. To my great luck, St.Ives was my pick that day, and from that time on I've been using it to give my skin a nice massage - or "exfoliating experience" as advertisements often call it. I've started with Apricot Scrub, but then also bought Medicated one.
The best time to use scrubs - in hot shower or right after it. Does it get rid of blackheads and whiteheads - no, scrubs usually work on the top layer. They remove dirt and dead skin cells so your pores will have less chance of clogging up. Unfortunately, many people have acne problems that are not due to "too many surface dead skin cells" or "too much dirt and oil" but to deep, overproductive pores and bacteria inside them. Deep pore blackhead and whitehead require a facial, not a scrub. But after a hard day's work, if your skin becomes oily and somewhat scally or uneven in texture, this is the product to apply. This product is not for skin that is frequently too dry.
The consistency of substance within can be compared to consistency of sour cream - not too watery and not to hard to spread. Wash your face with warm water to open pores (the longer the better), scrub it in just for 2-4 minutes, and some difference will be visible. Although it is often not the difference in how skin looks, but how it feels - and after using this product it feels much refreshed. While scrubbing, you will also be giving your face a massage that will draw blood to it and may improve evenness in skin's color. Using it too ofter may dry your skin out a bit. The grains are also a bit too big, so it loses points on gentleness.
Medicate scrubs is recommended for oily, acne prone skin. Active ingredient in Medicated scrub is salicylic acid (2%) - works on blemishes for some but not all people. It also contains ingredients made/derived from walnut, apricot, sunflower, corn, matricaria, a shell powder, plus a whole array of other chemicals. No animal tests. Same statements apply to the Apricot Scrub - though it's smell is somewhat different and is contains no salicylic acid. Each bottle contains 170 g of scrub, and can last up to couple months, depending on how often it gets used.
