| sparklesky's Full Review: St. Ives Apricot Scrub |
I've never been a big believer in all the wonderful claims of cosmetic companies. St Ives, however, seems to be an exception to the rule. The company, along with being cruelty free, stands behind its low cost products and generally comes through.
I use the medicated version of the apricot scrub. It is formulated for acne prone skin. The product package claims to 'gently lift away surface oils and dirt that can lead to blackheads and blemishes" as well as moisturize and stimulate cell renewal.
These claims won't happen overnight. But for the money this scrub works just as well as its pricey counterparts in the same amount of time. I have been using this product for nearly a month and my skin as improved greatly.
The directions recommend wetting face and massaging scrub into face for about a minute. The smell is pleasant and not overpowering. My skin did feel smoother at once. The active ingredient is a trace amount of Salicylic Acid-2 percent so for those with heavy acne I would suggest following up with a cream after applying. Allow your skin to respond to the scrub for about a week first because you run a chance of overdrying your skin with too much medications.
After a week of faithful use I noticed small, tiny bumps surfacing on my face. You guessed it,every hidden flaw on my face was being sucked to the top. I gave myself an at home facial to speed up the disgusting process and within days my skin was almost clear.
I now use most of the St. Ives product line and look forward to trying more. With time this product will live up to all its claims.
