| bterry's Full Review: St. Ives Water Resistant Moisture Therapy Lotion |
I have dry skin. Really dry. And to be honest, it is my fault. (No, it's not! Yes, it is!) I don't drink enough water every day. (I do not drink too many cokes -be quiet!) My hands are the worst, often itchy and rough. Also my fault. I bring it on myself by washing my hands constantly throughout the day.
While I doubt I seriously suffer from an OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder), I know that my frequent handwashing goes beyond what is considered "normal" - because people have commented on it. (Yes, they have! I'm busy! Leave me alone for a few minutes!)
So here I am - an easy target for jokes - and also left with dry, itchy, flaking hands. What's a girl to do?
Besides being known for washing my hands repeatedly, I've apparently also established a reputation for possessing lotion. Any time one of my girlfriends needs a little lotion, no matter how many of us there are in the group - they always come to me. When I say "Yes, I've got some!", they never act surprised. Often, they say "Oh, I knew you'd have lotion in your purse". I even recently visited a client who asked to borrow some lotion, recalling from previous visits that I've always got it around and readily accessible.
How did I get here?!? Well, if you wash your hands all the time - your hands will need lotion all the time. I decided to save myself the misery of dry hands and as a result carry a little bottle of lotion with me at all times... Geez, maybe I do have OCD...
Anyhow, this has been going on for years... and I had pretty much accepted that things would always be this way. But then - by chance - I found St. Ives Water Resistant Lotion and things began to look up!
I was in my local Albertson's store purchasing Drano. This is a regular purchase, since my long hair often causes a slow drain in my tub. While I was there, I decided to stroll on over to the row with all the lotion - a haven for me - and see if they carried the St. Ives Whipped Silk I had heard so much about. Sure enough, Albertson's carried it - and I had no sooner tossed it into my hand basket when something else caught my eye.
There, on the bottom shelf - beckoning me - was St. Ives Water Resistant Lotion. Wow! Something new! I always get excited about new stuff I haven't tried - being something of a Lotion Junkie - but the words "Water Resistant" drew me like a moth to a flame & I quickly tossed a bottle into my basket before the pesky voices could lecture me about the fact that I already have 12 bottles of lotion on my shelf at home.
I carried my basket to the check-out counter - carefully avoiding all cracks in the floor along the way... paid for my purchase and left - using the automatic doors to avoid touching a doorknob.
When I got home, I couldn't wait to try my new lotion. Having already forgotten about the Whipped Silk I purchased, I dove into the sack and whipped out my new Water Resistant friend.
Let me tell ya - this stuff WORKS!!. I applied it once around noon - and didn't touch the bottle again for the rest of the day. After eating pizza (washing hands), smoking (washing hands), and several potty breaks (all of which were followed by a thorough hand washing) there was no need to re-apply my lotion. My hands stayed moisturized and soft throughout the entire day - and were still soft and smooth when I woke up the next morning. You can't beat that with a stick!

Stats: My 18 oz bottle cost $4.49 at Alberston's - a local grocery store. (This is currently the only available size.) It is white with blue lettering and a blue pump lid. The lotion inside is an opaque white that glides smoothly, feels silky, and is quick to absorb. The scent is light and pleasant - but barely noticeable.
