Pros: Moisturizes and cleans very well; tons of bubbles/lather; smells great; no animal testing; inexpensive
Cons: Just one scent available
The Bottom Line: It's hard to believe that this is a drugstore brand - it's better than some high-end products!

| moonsista's Full Review: St. Ives Whipped Silk Body Moisturizer |
Last year when I discovered St. Ives Whipped Silk Intense Body Moisturizer, I was thrilled with it. It's a really great body lotion that sinks into the skin completely and doesn't leave a greasy residue. I use it from time to time, but not every day, because it doesn't really go with any of the fragrances that I wear. However, when I discovered (by accident!) a new product by St. Ives, Whipped Silk Ultra Moisturizing Body Wash, I couldn't get it into my shopping cart fast enough! I figured that if it was half as good as the moisturizer, I was going to get my money's worth.
Product Details:
Whipped Silk Body Wash comes in a 13.5 oz., tall plastic bottle. The bottle is shatterproof plastic and is pearly white-ish clear in color. The cap is cobalt blue and flips up to dispense the body wash. This product comes in just the 13.5 oz. size.
The consistency of the body wash itself is very creamy and somewhat thick, and the color of the body wash is a bright, medium shade of purple.
The only scent that this body wash comes in is Soft Petal Breeze. The Whipped Silk Intense Body Moisturizer also came in a fruity scent, but I never did find that scent in stores in my area. It looks like (according to the St. Ives website) Whipped Silk Body Wash comes in only the Soft Petal Breeze scent. The scent is very floral and feminine in nature, with possibly a slight hint of musk. I'm not someone who likes musk, but it's barely detectable. I would like this product to be available in more scents than just the one, because I tend to get tired of the scents of my body washes easily.
Ingredients (taken from packaging):
Water, sodium trideceth sulfate, cocamide mea, sunflower seed oil, sodium lauroamphoacetate, sodium laureth sulfate, cocamidopropyl betaine, cocamidopropyl hydroxysultaine, dimethicone, guar hydroxypropyltrimonium chloride, panthenol, tocopheryl acetate, retinyl palmitate, ascorbic acid, hydrolyzed silk, matricaria extract, sunflower extract, primula veris extract, sambucus nigra flower extract, propylene glycol, sodium chloride, disodium EDTA, citric acid, DMDM hydantoin, fragrance, red 33, blue 1, ext. violet 2.
My Experience:
I was a little bit surprised, at first, at how brightly-colored this body wash is. I was expecting a muted shade of purple, since that's how it looks through the pearly plastic bottle. But it's actually a bright shade of purple.
I use an amount of body wash that is about the size of a half dollar. I like a lot of lather and foam. Whipped Silk Body Wash did not let me down - this is one of the most foaming and bubbly body washes I've ever used. Of course, most people probably use a smaller amount than I do, but that's their option - I personally like lots of lather!
This product cleans well and also rinses clean. There is no waxy residue left on the skin.
The true test of a body wash, for me, is whether or not a body wash is moisturizing. It's autumn here in Ohio, and it's been getting colder for several weeks now. My skin is now getting dry, so a moisturizing body wash is a must for me. I am very happy with Whipped Silk Body Wash because it really does moisturize my skin. I have no problems with tightness or dry skin when I get out of the shower when I use this body wash. Of course I still need a separate moisturizer and/or body oil product, but that will always be the case for me. I can't possibly have too much moisture on my skin, in my opinion.
While in the shower, the scent lasts and fills the bathroom with the floral scent until you've been done with your shower for a few minutes. The scent is fairly strong and lingers on the skin for a little while after getting out of the shower. It does not last long, however, and does not interfere with the scent of your body lotion and your perfume/fragrance.
I'm very happy with this product so far and will continue to use it, particularly in the winter. When used with the Whipped Silk Body Moisturizer, my skin is definitely moisturized and soft. For the price ($2.99) and the amount that you get for that price (13.5 oz.), I think it's a fantastic value.
Price and Purchasing Information:
My bottle of St. Ives Whipped Silk Body Wash was $2.99 at my local Target store. I have also seen it at a few drugstores, but I have not seen it at a lot of stores. It is about $.50 higher in price at drugstore chains. Just like with the Whipped Silk Body Moisturizer, I think that the Whipped Silk Body Wash has limited availability.
