Just about three weeks ago I discovered St. Ives Whipped Silk Body Moisturizer while searching the health and beauty aisles at Kmart for hand lotion. Since the St. Ives brand now has lanolin in most of their hand lotions I was scouring the ingredients listing on all the items I picked up.
Although the St. Ives Whipped Silk is not touted as a hand lotion I found it in the same area and hesitated at first to even look at the bottle because there was no hand pump dispenser like hand lotion products. The words Intense Body Moisturizer on the bottle drew me closer to read the claims this new product offered. This is a soft petal breeze scent specifically for extra dry skin.
I am very familiar with St. Ives and know they do not test on animals and are dermatologist tested. The bottle is fourteen fluid ounces with a blue flip top cap that can twist off as well. I might try taking a pump from another St. Ives hand lotion and use that on the St. Ives Whipped Silk when I purchase another bottle next week.
When you unscrew the cap you will see a light purple colored silky cream with a pleasing scent. When you squeeze it out of the flip top it looks luxurious as it swirls around in your palm forming a droplet. My only complaint is that I have used so much of this that it is hard to squeeze more out. I have to grip the sides and shake the contents to move toward the opening.
Due to my son’s disability he is still in diapers and I change plenty on a daily basis. After disposing of the diaper in the dumpster, I head to the sink to wash my hands with liquid bacterial soap. I always finish with a lathering of lotion to my hands. Instead of hand lotion I have been utilizing St. Ives Whipped Silk Body Moisturizer. After shaving my legs and using pumice scrub on my feet I apply a liberal amount of this intense body moisturizer for total comfort, silky feeling and smooth finish.
When I was at Kmart that day I picked up a Suave hand lotion that is still almost full because I prefer the St. Ives Whipped Silk and use it numerous times throughout the day. The name is just so true that you really feel you are spreading whipped silk on your body. The bottle states this is proven to leave even the driest skin silky soft, true words I can back up. I have severe eczema with break outs on my legs and hands.
This summer I had been experimenting with various creams on my face to combat the itchy feeling that comes with the eczema. When the temperature two weeks ago turned over the hundred-degree mark with humidity my face cleared up but my legs got worse as well as the cracks on my hands. This was a common occurrence growing up on the East Coast so I was glad to have my face cleared up and could handle the brittle legs.
When I was applying the various creams on my face they burned due to my sores and open cuts. My legs have the same thing but there was only relief when I applied the St. Ives Whipped Silk. This can be applied liberally as much as needed as it prevents over-dry skin from recurring. I do end up squirting more than I need each time, but I just smooth it over my arms and legs. I can feel it working instantly on my arms and the smoothness is much appreciated on my hands. The cuts are closing up and I no longer need to place bandaids on them. This is absorbed quickly into my skin and feels tingly on my arms.
The price for the St. Ives Whipped Silk was only $2.91 at Kmart, and worth even more. I was very disappointed to find the St. Ives Aloe Vera Hand Lotion now contains lanolin as I had used that for probably ten years or more. Now I have found another product from the same company that is ten times better and able to work on all areas of my body for a lower price and better scent.
This is not greasy, more on the thin side than thick but pure indulgence that works instantly on my severe dry skin. I always give my kids hand lotion after they have bathed so their hands are nice and soft, but I have not been sharing the St. Ives Whipped Silk, instead they are getting the Suave lotion!
The ingredients are always listed on the back of St. Ives products. This list is not complete or in the correct order, but this intense moisturizer has Petrolatum, mineral oil, stearic acid, water, glycerin, hydrolyzed silk, fragrance, panthenol, sunflower extract, chamomilla recutita extract, Olive Oil, Violet 2, Blue1, Red 33, tocopheryl acetate, sambucus nigra flower extract. What I like is that fragrance is the last ingredient before the colors.
There is a moisture index on the back with a chart showing how far down dry skin is, but with the added benefit of St. Ives Whipped Silk the St. Ives Skin moves almost to the top of the chart. This is a lotion I implore anyone who suffers from dry skin to try this lotion and feel whipped in silk.
