Brief Foreword on Stansport Enamel Camping Tableware Set Stansport Enamel Camping Tableware Set
Stansport Enamel Camping Tableware Set is a relatively good quality tableware set for camping that is inexpensive compared to major name brands in the camping gear goods that is made overseas abroad.
What is included in the Stansport Enamel Camping Tableware Set
The camping tableware is made of high quality durable steel, coated with glazed enamel on all sixteen pieces; four 10.5 inch dinner plates, four 12 2/3 ounce coffee mugs, four 6 inch bowls, and four 7 inch spoons.
Stansport is the manufacturer.
Country of Origin
Stansport Enamel Camping Tableware Set is imported from China.
The Quality and Durability of the Set
The quality of the set overall is very good, but not as good as the originals made in USA many years ago. The quality of the finish is above average with minor cosmetic blemishes that may cause some pieces to be easily chiped and possible rusting if not repaired.
The durability of the set is relatively high, but the enamel blemishes will limit the lifetime of the product if not repaired or remedied. The durability is not there in terms of being free of performing some sort of treatment when the metal is no longer coated in enamel from chipping. The most simple way to keep it from rusting once there is bare metal is to keep it oiled down with olive oil or corn oil, etcetera.
Not on the handle itself, but the cup yes it does get hot. Rule of thumb if you see it steaming do not hold onto it long, if can not take steaming hot showers.
Ideal Prospective Users
This set is more for scouts doing camping or families or friends camping. I do not recommend this for carrying over extended hikes and camping as it is rather heavy compared to the light weight trail intended products.
The manufactuer's suggested retail price is $44.99 and can be easily purchased for less than full retail.
Overall, I am split on approving or disapproving of this product. If you do not mind having to potentially take time to maintain the metal in the occurence of chipping resulting in needing to oil or re-enamel the surface - then buy it. If not wanting to maintain the surface - simply buy a different set, but be prepared to spend more especially if buying a premium brand.
I wish I would have inspected it closer for cosmetic defects that would lead to chipping of the enamel with minimal force or normal wear and tear. If you decide to purchase this set by Stansport I strongly suggest inspecting for irregularities in the surface that are prone to chip when using a utensil or transporting before deciding to keep it after purchasing especially if you have it shipped to you since you have to buy it before getting it as opposed to buying in person.
