Pros:lightweight, easy to use, one-touch stapling without hand stress
Cons:read the instructions; the staples insert into the stapler differently than a traditional stapler
The Bottom Line: I am very glad I bought this Staples One-Touch Stapler.
Last year I passed this stapler several times, during several visits, to my local Staples store. Each time I would pick it up, try the test model out, oooohhh and awwww over it ... and walk away. One time my resistance weakened, and I bought a Staples One-Touch Stapler. Boy, am I glad I did!

This stapler has the footprint of a regular stapler, measuring 7 long x 1 1/2 wide. It stands a bit tall at 3 1/2 high. It has an unusual look, but is strong on function. This stapler can be used as a regular stapler, or it opens up to be used as a tacking stapler. It takes standard size full-strip staples. The package includes 420 standard staples.
The top of the stapler is rubberized. There is a red plastic inset in a teardrop shape at the top near the front of the stapler. The bottom of the stapler has a footing that raises the base of the stapler off the table or desk top. There is a narrow red rubberized strip along the bottom of the stapler that also stretches across the bottom front and back.
This stapler is designed to staple between 2 20 sheets of paper.
One folded sheet of instructions comes with the stapler. The packaging says, Please read instructions before using. I highly recommend you read them. This One-Touch Stapler does not work like a traditional stapler.
Loading the Stapler
Dont make the mistake I did. I didnt read the instructions, eager to begin using the stapler. I loaded the staples into the stapler and did it wrong. The staples jammed in there so firmly that I didnt think Id ever get them to wiggle free. It took some dedicated effort. I also gave this stapler to two writing friends since I like it so much. One friend had no trouble loading the staples. The other friend made the same mistake I did. I have a feeling she became frustrated with the jammed staples and threw the stapler out.
In essence, the staples are loaded upside down from the way they load into a traditional stapler. Open the stapler (swinging the top upward away from the base). There is an automatic open feature that slides the staple compartment out. If the compartment doesnt slide open, there is a manual release mechanism (Ive never had to use it). Insert one stapler strip with the staple points facing upward. This is important. The points have to face toward the ceiling. Then push the compartment closed until it locks shut. Close the stapler, and you are ready to use it.
I love this One-Touch Stapler! The name is accurate, too. If you have trouble with your hands (ex: carpal tunnel or arthritis), this will save you pain. Once the stapler is loaded, it literally takes one touch of the finger to use it. No grasping the entire stapler, either.
The stapler sits on a flat surface. Place the papers you want stapled in the opening as you would a regular stapler. Then press the red teardrop shaped area on the top of the stapler. Apply a bit of downward pressure, and the stapler takes over to staple the papers.
Using this stapler, I no longer have to hold the stapler in one hand while inserting the papers with the other. I dont have to squeeze both sides of the stapler, which saves my hand stress. I can rest one finger or the palm of my hand on this stapler to make it work. Simple.
I do a lot of writing and belong to several critique groups. We bring our writing to meetings and pass out the manuscripts to read and for people to jot down their feedback. I can easily staple up to 20 pages of 20-pound copier/laser paper with this stapler. The stapling goes quickly, too.
There is only one stapler plate on this stapler base, in case that is an issue. The stapler staples with the staple tines facing inward.
The stapler can also be opened to use as a tacking stapler (ex: stapling into bulletin boards). My one pet peeve about this is that when the stapler is opened all the way, the automatic open goes into action, releasing the staple compartment. Every time the stapler is opened, the staple compartment needs to be pushed back into place. Then the stapler can be used as a tacker.
I have never had this stapler jam
with the exception of when I loaded the staples wrong. It works consistently and well. It is also lightweight. I dont use this as a portable stapler, but it is easy to carry from one location to another.
The rubberized feet on the bottom do not offer firm traction. This stapler will move it if it is pushed. The rubberized feet do protect the surface it is sitting on from any scuff marks that might occur if the body of the stapler was resting directly on the table or desk.
I just want to mention that this stapler, while offering ease of use, is not an electric stapler. With an electric stapler, you place the papers in the opening, and the stapler automatically senses the paper and self-staples. This One-Touch stapler does require manual operation. I like the fact that it is easier to use than a traditional stapler, and I dont have the battery or electrical expense of running an electric stapler.
I bought this stapler at Staples for just under $15.00.
This Staples One-Touch Stapler is terrific. Im very glad I bought it. It offers greater ease of use than a traditional stapler. I find I can staple papers quicker and with less stress on my hands. Its a winner!
I hope you found this review useful.
