| Staceys1's Full Review: Star Wars Mpire M-Grievous and M-Obi |
It seems that everywhere I go, Star Wars items bombard me from every angle. Though we have hundreds of dollars worth of Star Wars related items in our home already, when I first saw the M&M Mpire series of figures, they were so cute that we just had to have them.
The Star Wars Mpire M-Grievous & M-Obi package contains two plastic figures which can easily stand alone, though they each come with their own display stand. While children enjoy playing with these figures, collectors might want to place the figures on the three inch plastic oval base. A peg on the base fits into a hole in the bottom of each figure. The base has a red M&M on it along with the words "The Star Wars MPire", though part of the phrase is covered by the figure when in use.
A yellow peanut M&M is dressed to look like General Grievous with a white cape with a light brown lining, silver and white gloves and an gray plastic robotic looking mask over his face. He comes packaged with a red M&M dressed as Obi-Wan Kenobi in a brown cape, brown boots, white gloves, and a blue light saber held over his head, poised for action.
As I am not a Star Wars fan, I did not know which characters these M&M candies were dressed like without looking at the package, or if they looked anything like the real characters. However, Star Wars fans who had not seen these toys before were able to easily identify which movie characters they were supposed to be. That being said, I would think that traditionalists would prefer not to have their favorite movie characters portrayed by M&M candies.
The figures are about two and a half inches tall and all none of their accessories are removable. The fact that none of the pieces come off make these figures good playthings for children. Many of the more realistic Star Wars figures that we have come with guns, belts, light sabers and other tiny items that are constantly getting lost.
Star Wars Mpire M-Grievous & M-Obi are recommended for ages four and up. When not being played with, these cute figures do not need to be stored away in a box, but can be displayed with the other six Mpire members. The cost is reasonable at about seven dollars per two figures, and my son has recently taken to choosing two sets to give his friends as birthday gifts. I believe that we shall be giving these as gifts to some adult Star Wars fans as well!
There are currently four two-packs available in the Star Wars Mpire series:
- M-Peror [Palpatine] & M-Anakin [Skywalker]
- M-Grievous & M-Obi [Wan Kenobi]
-M-Trooper & M-Vader
-M-Bacca & Mace [Windu]
