| Staceys1's Full Review: Star Wars Mpire M-Trooper and M-Vader |
Do you know a Star Wars fan who has just about every item under the sun related to that series of movies? Well, maybe the M&M MPire set of figures is one set that they missed. My husband thought that he knew about all of the Star Wars products available and he and my children were very excited to see these figures in the store. I must admit, tired as I am of the whole Star Wars craze, M&M's dressed like movie characters really are cute!
This Star wars Mpire M-Trooper and M-Vader set contains two plastic figures replicating a Clone Trooper and Darth Vader from the movies. A two and a half inch tall yellow peanut M&M is dressed in a black helmet (though you can see his face), black cloak, black pants, black boots and black gloves, and is holding a red light saber.
Accompanying him is a two inch tall red plain M&M almost completely covered up in his white and black trimmed Clone Trooper suit, with just a small area around his eyes visible. His costume is slightly different than those in the movies, as he has an "m" outlined in black on his chest. He holds a pike in one of his black-gloved hands.
The two figures can easily stand by themselves, though for display purpose, three inch oval plastic stands are included. A peg on each stand fits easily into a hole in the bottom of the character's foot. "The Star Wars Mpire" is written on the stand, with a red M&M candy as the first letter of the word "Mpire." Unfortunately, when a figure is placed on a stand, he covers up a portion of the words.
Star wars Mpire M-Trooper and M-Vader are recommended for ages four and up, though I think most of the consumers interested in these will be much older than four. Children can safely play with them, as they are made of sturdy plastic, with no removable pieces unlike other Star Wars figures, which often have light sabers, guns and other small pieces which are easily lost.
Many of the Mpire characters have the facial expression of, or the stature of, their movie counterparts. Star Wars fans have pointed out that the M-Vader figure, though dressed as Darth Vader, looks too happy to be such a Dark figure, though overall, the M&M characters are a big hit with the movies' fans. Some Star Wars fans may not feel it appropriate that M&M candies are portraying their favorite movie characters, but most I have encountered, especially children, have found them to be a whimsical change to the standard figures available.
Each two-character set in this first series cost us about seven dollars, so, of course, we purchased them all the first time we saw them on the store shelf. We have since gone back and purchased these sets as gifts for others since they are just too cute!
There are currently four two-packs available in the Star Wars Mpire series:
- M-Peror [Palpatine] & M-Anakin [Skywalker]
- M-Grievous & M-Obi [Wan Kenobi]
- M-Trooper & M-Vader
- M-Bacca & Mace [Windu]
