| Staceys1's Full Review: Star Wars Vader Force Sprinkler |
Did we need a new sprinkler? No. Did we need any more Star Wars items to add to our collection? No. Did we buy the Star Wars Vader Force Sprinkler anyway? Of course we did!
While shopping for supplies for my son's recent Star Wars themed pool party, we came across this lawn sprinkler on sale for about seven dollars. My husband and children felt this would be the perfect item to have going on our front lawn as guests arrived so that those who had not been to our house before would know they were in the right place.
The Star Wars Vader Force Sprinkler stands a total of eleven inches tall and features an eight inch tall Darth Vader plastic doll standing on top of what I thought to be a gray semi-circle, but I later found out to be the Death Star. This base measures about six and a half inches in diameter, making the sprinkler stable, even on uneven grass. The plastic figure is dressed primarily in black, with some gray/silver accents and some red and blue "buttons" painted on his chest-plate. He is wearing a black cloth cape and is grasping his red light saber with both hands.
On the side of the Death Star base is a yellow plastic ring, which easily screws onto a standard lawn hose. Once the hose is connected and the water turned on, water shoots straight up out of six small holes near the top of the base, while Darth Vader swivels back and forth about three quarters of the way around, swinging his cape as he moves.
The first day we used this Star Wars Vader Force Sprinkler, I was not sure if it would just be a lawn ornament or if it would get played with as my two children and our eight guests were having too much fun in the pool. At some point in the day, my son's birthday party migrated to the front lawn where Darth Vader was put through the wringer. The children repeatedly picked up the sprinkler to better direct the flow of water toward another child as well as stepped on it, knocked it over and at least twice, dropped it on the concrete. The sprinkler made it through just fine though and we have used it since that day with no problems.
My son did see this sprinkler on the store shelf at the beginning of the summer and I believe the price was originally around twenty dollars. Now that it is the end of the season, I have seen it at various places for under ten dollars. If we were in need of a new sprinkler for my children to play with, I would have purchased it at the original higher price, but I was glad that we were able to get it on clearance.
Youngsters who are Star Wars fans will enjoy cooling off with this sprinkler in the summer months, but collectors and older fans will enjoy it as well, either to look at on a shelf, or just to water the lawn (as we have done on occasion.).
