| 77chelle's Full Review: Starbucks Starbucks Aroma Thermal Brewer |
In our quest to find the coffee machine to fit our needs, we came across a new concept in coffee making and brewing. The concept of not needing to burn your coffee in a glass carafe with an electric hot pad seemed very appealing. It was actually my hubby, who is more of a coffee connoisseur more then myself. He loves a good cup of coffee. Hey, as long as it is not bitter I will drink it. LOL! He wanted a new coffeepot and I knew better then to stop him from finding the perfect one. It was a Christmas gift to ourselves! I just told my hubby as long as the coffeepot we purchased was not white I would be happy.
We searched high and low, near and far, we looked at dept stores, and online stores and we, actually he, was most impressed with both of Starbucks coffee makers. The barista aroma and the barista utopia, they both looked pretty high-tech yet so easy to use. They are built with quality and look like they will last a long time. We decided to purchase the Starbucks Barista Aroma. The Starbucks Barista Aroma does come in black or white.
I love the fact that the coffee tastes just like a fresh brewed cup of coffee after (3 hours from brew time) instead of a bitter cup of coffee from being exposed to heat for too long. I am amazed at the quality of coffee this Starbucks barista brews. It is some of the best coffee we have had. The Barista Aroma makes it simple to get good results. It brews directly into the aroma sealed stainless steel carafe. The aroma of the coffee is sealed inside the carafe and the coffee stays hot and good tasting for hours. We actually take our carafe with us in our car when we go to church on Sundays. When we get out of service and hour and half later we pour ourselves a good cup of hot coffee. We love it.
The soft-touch control pad on the front of the coffee maker is easy to use. A simple on off button, auto on button, hour, minute and the time. My only concern is getting it the control pad too wet and having it not work. Starbucks says not to let it get too wet. In other words don’t submerse you coffee maker in water. A wipe with a wet cloth will not hurt it. There is also a carafe sensor control, so it won’t brew the coffee unless the carafe is correctly inserted into the maker. You can also take the carafe out (while it is brewing) and it will completely stop brewing the coffee until you replace the carafe.
Starbucks does recommend that you season the coffee maker before your first use, and as a regular cleaning tool. The way you season the machine is to add 3 cups of either distilled vinegar or pulp-free lemon juice and 3 cups cold water to the water reservoir. So there is a total of 6 cups. You then press the on button and let it brew to the 3 cup level, then you press the off button and let the mixture sit in the machine for 15 minutes. This will release any built up, water deposits, or calcium deposits from inside the machine. After the 15 minutes wait, you press on again and let the machine continue to brew. Then dump out the vinegar and run 2-3 pots of clean water to rinse the machine and to get rid of any vinegar/lemon smell or taste. I use vinegar when I clean our machine, mostly because it is cheaper then the lemon juice. I have had good results using this method and I think that you should clean your machine every few months to keep it in the best shape possible. Another thing, do not leave water on the outside of the stainless steel decanter, it will leave water spots. Simply wipe it off with a dry clean rag to keep your coffeepot looking it’s best. I also recommend that you rinse out the inside of in the carafe when you are done drinking your coffee.
This machine has a removable water tank, yes removable so no more water spilled all over the counter when you are pouring the water into your coffee machine. All you have to do is remove the water tank and carry it to the sink to fill it up. The Starbucks Barista Aroma brews 8 cups of coffee or 40 ounces.
