Well, here is the exception to the rule. I have had more questions from company about how this pot functions, and every single person, including a Starbucks employee, comments on how good the coffee tastes. Eventually, I find people staring at the pot while it brews the coffee.
The one major problem we have encountered is durability and/or quality control in the manufacture of this machine. We have had to replace the filter 3x. Apparently there was a problem with their supplier which was corrected. We are also on our third machine in 2 years. The first machine had the handle break off the carafe after 1-1/2 years of use. The second machine had the electronics blank out (on Christmas morning no less), thus our third machine. However, the personnel handling the warranty dpt. at the 800# were very helpful in arranging rapid replacement of the machine. Granted, we make 2-3 full pots per day, but for the price, expected better durability. Once again, they were so quick to replace the machine with a new one, I guess this really turned out to be more an inconvenience than anything else.
The other thing is cleaning. Finally found out from Starbucks rep that the easiest way to clean is fill pot to 8 cup mark with cold water and add 3 TBS of baking soda. Put on filter and run machine. Do this weekly and the pot stays crystal clean.
All in all, if you are a coffee fanatic, this machine is worth it.
