Don't buy a swing that can't be plugged in !

Pros:Does not need batteries, babies love it.

Cons:Light show is connected to music. Fabric on seat is flimsy.

The Bottom Line: Excellent swing, loaded with features. Best of all, it runs on AC power. Unless you know what you are doing, don't buy a swing that only runs on batteries.

This is a great swing chair with good features. Up until our twins were the age of about 9 months, we got a lot of use out of the swing (usage slowed down around the 6-month mark).

We really liked the side-to-side/front-to-back interchangeability of the swing, although we mainly used side-to-side. Our babies absolutely loved the light show.

The reason we bought the swing, though, was that it runs on AC power. We never used batteries - and we can't imagine why anyone would, since battery power couldn't last long. This swing is large enough to make travel use impractical, so I think that buying one that only runs on battery power (like the less expensive papasan) is not wise.

When the babies were about 6 months old, they were able to grab the mobile toys, so we had to shorten the suspension cords by knotting them. Eventually, we had to use the the swing without the mobile.

The most annoying thing about this swing is that the light show is connected to the music. This means that you can't have the baby swinging with the light show going indefinitely UNLESS you have the music playing. (If you turn off the music, the light show will stop after about 10 min of swinging - kinda annoying for parents who are awake, particularly when the babies wake up the INSTANT that the light show switches off.) It took me a while to find the one relatively inoffensive "nature" sound that is available to play during the light show.

The only other complaint is that the fabric on the seat - while easy to remove - is not that durable. After only a few washings, the fabric started to pill. Fortunately for us, our babies were not that messy, so we didn't have to wash it too many times.
