The Bottom Line: I definitely think this swing is worth the investment, particularly if you have a baby who likes the swinging motion.
The style of the Papasan Cradle Swing is definitely the way to go, especially for floppy newborns. The Fisher Price Starlight Papasan Cradle Swing lays back and has a head support to keep newborns in place without their heads flopping all around.
The swing we had for our son quit when he was a baby so we bought this swing before our daughter was born. She wasn't impressed with the swing for the first 5 weeks but suddenly she took to it. It has been a sanity saver several times for us.
The fact that you can select either side to side of front to back swinging is one of my favorite things about this swing. It easily switches from one to the other. The netting and light show make this swing even more special.
The aspect that I can't live without is the plug in feature. All of the big baby gear eats through batteries so it's great that this swing can be plugged into the wall. We haven't wasted money on batteries and we never have to worry about having them on hand.
I do have to say that it doesn't seem to swing as high as it should when there is a baby in the swing but overall it has held up well for us.
