Starting Small Puppy Hamper: Cute, But Not So Sturdy
Written: Oct 14, 2011
Rated a Very Helpful Review by the Epinions community
Pros:Looks cute
Cons:Already falling apart
The Bottom Line: Extra storage is always nice, but this hamper is already starting to fall apart.
When my oldest daughter turned four years old, my mother sent her a lovely box of gifts. One of the things that she sent was the Starting Small Puppy hamper. The hamper is easy to assemble: simply slide the four plastic rods into the top and bottom of the hamper, and voila- the hamper is ready! What might otherwise be a drab and unassuming beige mesh hamper has been enhanced by a puppy face. The puppy face takes up the entire front of the hamper, and the ears are separate flaps that have been sewn on. This makes the puppy look adorable! The hamper measures 24x18x11, so it will hold quite a bit. My daughter already has a large hamper, so we are using the hamper as our ironing basket. It fits nicely in a corner of the master bedroom in a space that one of our larger plastic hampers would not be able to fit. There are two handles, so the hamper can be transported around the house effortlessly. This works out well, because we don't usually do the ironing in the bedroom. It's easy to move the hamper to wherever it needs to go. The hamper is not the greatest quality. We've had the hamper for six months, and already, there is a tear in the seam of the sleeve that holds one of the rods. This makes the rod poke through the front, and when the rod slips through the front, it makes it harder to carry. This hamper is a little smaller as our other hampers, but it is narrower and doesn't hold nearly as much clothing. You aren't necessarily limited to clothing; this hamper can also be used to store stuffed animals or other toys. As I have mentioned, this hamper was a gift. It is sold on Amazon for about $10. This is a fair price for the hamper, but there are better hampers out there that hold more and are sturdier. I can't really recommend the Starting Small Puppy Hamper. It does a pretty good job of holding our clothing that needs to be ironed, and it fits into a small space... so it gets an average rating from me. On the other hand, it is already starting to fall apart, and it's not even being used by small children who might be more inclined to throw the hamper around. The puppy face is cute, but it's not the cutest thing out there. As for toy storage, something sturdier is probably more ideal.
