I went to Clinique to try something other than my usual products from MAC. Originally I tried the clarifying powder but found it did nothing for shine. I ended up returning the product in exchange for the Stay-Matte "stay-neutral" powder. My problem area is my nose which tends to become quite oily, unlike the rest of my face which is fairly dry. The rubber sponge that came with the compact applied the product quite badly. I recommend a powder puff instead which allows for the powder to go on much more smoothly. Unfortunately the powder controlled the shine for about 20 minutes, after which my nose appeared to have a surface slick of oil on it. I have tried the powder on half of my nose to compare with my bare skin, as well as in comparison with MAC Blot Powder. Though the Clinique stay-matte powder evenly distributes oil on my skin, it doesn't do anything about hiding the oil. I find that the MAC Blot Powder works much better and is also cheaper. I would never buy the Clinique Stay-Matte again because it really did not live up to its claims whatsoever.
