A step up for the entry level Stearns K115, this kayak self-bails. It is a great entry level kayak for those who want to start on waves, either ocean or whitewater. I have used one for five years and it is still working with no holes. It is easy to travel with, so one can go to different places and still enjoy the water.
It is very durable because it has a heavy duty PVC innertube, with 5 different inflating chambers, and a Nylon reinforced PVC on the bottom. I have a million scratches on the bottom from going over rocks in rapids, and it has not affected the performance of the kayak or leaked at all.
The K116 is very convenient for storing things. One does not have to put things in the kayak; one can use D-rings on the back deck. This kayak has an adjustable back, as well as thigh braces. The kayak has a great self-bailing design.
