| nspikito's Full Review: Steinway Model D |
Steinway D's can be magnificent instruments. I have played many in concert halls all over the world. They have the power to be heard over a symphony orchestra. Nevertheless they are way over-rated. Many famous pianists, both classical and popular music, prefer other brands and are advertised by those brands. To give some examples, Chick Corea, Danilo Perez Randy Newman, Paul McCartney, Michael Tilson Thomas, Diana Krall, Elton John, and Frederic Chiu are Yamaha artists. Claudio Arrau was a Baldwin artist for a time. Garrick Ohlsson owned a Mason & Hamlin piano. Leonard Bernstein owned a Boesendorfer. The list goes on.
