| holtomsteinway's Full Review: Steinway Model D |
I am a very new and inexperience musician , but I know a good piano when I play one.
Steinway pianos are completely made from solid wood. They are not made with chipboard or veneers that compromise the sound causing the instrument to sound hollow and cheap.
Steinways have such amazing sound quality and beauty that they put other types of pianos like Kawai, Yamaha, or Baldwin to shame. Don't get me wrong, other piano companies do very well in making pianos and have very good sounding instruments, but if you want the best instrument with the best sound, always go with Steinway.
Schools around the world do not take pride in saying they are an All Steinway School for nothing. People who know anything about pianos know that Steinway is the best. With the piano's amazing ability to keep the sound of each key separate and clear, you can give your performance the sound you desire. It is so irritating when a piano has a sticky key or when the keys run together and you don't have that wonderful crisp sound that everyone enjoys. In my experience with Steinways, I've never had any problems with anything like that.
When I play on a Steinway Model D I never want to stop. I have played on a few Steinway Model D's and have loved the experience. The way Steinways play are incredible. Other pianos I have played on are nice, but when I play on a Steinway Model D . . . there are no words to express the feel of the keys. They glide. Instead of just playing the piano, the piano feels what you feel. With little effort, the sound just emanates through the air and into people's souls. The keys are so easy to maneuver. There is no worry about pressing the keys down hard at first to get them to make sound and once they reach a certain point they fall the rest of the way easily, making them give a louder sound than you want. The Steinway keys just go down so smoothly in the exact way you press them. It is a wonderful thing to not think about how to play the keys right, but to concentrate on the emotion. You can just play what comes to your heart and not worry about whether you have to hit certain keys harder than others
because that's just the way the piano plays. Each piano is different and therefore has particular qualities to consider, so consider getting a piano where you don't have to worry about all the little quirks.
Everyone says that Steinway Model D's are for the stage, but if you have the money and enjoy playing, why not get one for yourself? It is my dream to one day have the money to buy a Steinway Model D for mine and my family's enjoyment. When I play on a Steinway there is nothing more heavenly and thrilling than to sit and play the most wonderful instrument God has given.
