How this chair came home
When my son was around 18 months old he spotted the Step2 SunnyTime Adirondack Chair at Target on one of the lower shelves in an outdoor display. Actually he pulled it off the shelf and onto the floor next to my cart and sat down in it. The chair fit him perfectly and was reasonably priced so my husband and I decided to purchase it. As it turns out we were actually browsing around Target waiting for the photo studio to finish up a sitting before our appointment and we ended up using this chair along with a beach theme and it was perfect.

About the Step2 SunnyTime Adirondack Chair

The SunnyTime Adirondack Chair is put out from Step2, a manufacturer known for durable plastic products including a line for children. The chair itself measures 21.75"H x 18.875"L x 16.25"W so its quite small. Step2 recommends it for children 1 1/2 to 6 years, but I think my now 2 1/2 year old son will outgrow it by the time he's 5 or so years old. He started using it when he was 18 months (though there is no reason a younger child couldn't sit in it) and is now getting his second summer out of it in our backyard.

The Step2 SunnyTime Adirondack Chair comes in a lime green and lemon yellow color scheme. The broadly based bottom/seat portion of the chair is green and the chairback is yellow. The seat portion angles down and the chairback is at a slight recline making this a chair for lounging purposes. The design of the chair makes it appealing for little kids to sit in (it looks just like a smaller version of a grown-up chair) and is also extremely cute. Its also well engineered so that it doesn't tip easily either to the back or the side.

More than just any old lawn chair, this Step2 SunnyTime Adirondack Chair also has a built in cupholder in one armrest which can hold a squirt bottle or standard sippy cup (not the Gerber FunGrips), or a small bubble tumbler. Think... kick back, relax, have a cold beverage, blow some bubbles.. etc.

The chairback of the Step2 SunnyTime Adirondack Chair folds down flat for storage, or allows you to stack the chairs on top of each other if you should have more than one of them. I noticed on the backside of the chairback there is a small white plug which can be released if the chair should get any water inside - we've not had to mess with the plug.

Our SunnyTime experience

While some might balk at spending the $20 retail price for a children's lawn chair, I believe this chair to be a great value. (Plus, we purchased it on sale at Target for around $15). As mentioned previously in the review this is our second summer of enjoying the Step2 SunnyTime Adirondack Chair in our backyard. I'm sure we'll get at least one or two more summers of use out of it before my son is too large for it.

In the two summers we've used the chair its been left outside almost continuously. In fact, this chair was actually left outside by accident throughout the winter months buried by several feet of snow. When the snow melted our chair was there just as good as new. After all of that time outside in various weather conditions - sun, snow, and rain - and it has not experienced any fading or wear. The worst the chair has suffered was a bit of autumn leaves/dirt which were easily hosed off with the garden hose and a soapy sponge.

Its rare to find a product that I don't have anything negative to say about, and this is one of them. My son certainly picked a winner when he spotted the Step2 SunnyTime Adirondack Chair. I easily give it 5 stars as a perfect little backyard chair for kids. Sure, kids can sit in the grown-up chairs but they really do love a chair just their size, at least my son does. If you have a toddler or preschooler and are looking for items to add to your backyard toys/furniture this summer, consider this chair from Step2.
