I've been on a kick, recently, to really clean and organize my house.  Not that my house is sloppy; it's not.  But "stuff" tends to accumulate everywhere.  My latest problem was spare light bulbs.  I found some in the kitchen, the laundry room, the den, and the garage.  It seems to me that like items should be stored together.  This makes life so much easier.  But once you decide where to place items, the next step is figuring out how to place them there. 

In the case of light bulbs, we had so many of them, in all different sizes and shapes.  And, of course, they're fragile - you don't want to just toss them onto a shelf where they can be knocked around.  So I went to buy some storage bins.  I like the Sterilite name - their products always seem to be of very high quality so when I came across their Flip Tops storage bins, I bought a bunch of them, in various sizes and colors.   

All of the bins I bought are rectangles.  The ones I saw came in white, blue, and pink.  But their tints are very light so they remain mostly see-through.  All have attached, snap-tight lids.  Their bottoms have two plastic squares that protrude just a bit from the surface of the box.  Their tops have matching squares, indented just a bit.  In other words, these boxes are stackable.  The plastic squares on the bottoms fit nicely into the square indentations at the tops. 

The size I chose for my light bulbs is approximately 13" by 6", and 5" high.  This seemed like a nice size - it would hold plenty of light bulbs but won't be too bulky or heavy to move, even when full. 

These boxes are very sturdy, made of a thick plastic that gives, a little, when pressed.  But I have no fear that the plastic will crack or in any way break.  Nor do I feel that this box will warp out of shape.  The only problem I foresee revolves around the lid's "hinges".  These aren't really hinges in the true sense of the word, they're merely thin plastic strips that hold the lid to the box, and bend to allow the lid to swing open and closed.  I feel this is the weakest part of the box.  While those plastic strips haven't torn yet, I wouldn't be very surprised if they do so, in the future.  But this is a minor issue as I really wouldn't care very much if the lid was attached, or not.  As long as it closes tightly, I can handle it coming off the box, if that does, indeed, happen.

These boxes close tightly, with a latch that makes a satisfying 'click' as it closes.  But they're simple enough to open by just pulling up on the latch. 

I'm pleased with my purchase.  I can imagine many, many uses for these boxes.  School supplies, office supplies, packaged food items, tools, etc.  Pretty much anything that tends to gather all over the place in my house could be stored in these boxes.  I love that they're see-through and stackable.  They're also inexpensive - just a few bucks when sold individually, or you can find them in bulk at warehouse clubs.  The hinges are their worst feature - if you can live with that weakness, I recommend these boxes for all of your storage needs.
