| LonghornMan's Full Review: Sterling Texas Rangers Inflatable Chair G108A |
Nearly all sports fans who have gathered at a friends house or apartment have experienced the age old dilemma presented by lack of seating. This inflatable chair alleviates this all too common problem. Its inflatable, which makes it extremely easy to transport in either its inflated or deflated state. While deflated it can easily be fit into a medium sized bag or backpack. If you want to transport it inflated, it will fit easily into a sports utility vehicle and most mid-size hatchbacks. Its not too difficult to inflate, but I wouldnt wait until the bottom of the fifth inning after consuming a six pack of beer and smoking a couple of cigars to blow it up. The odor emitted upon deflation will definitely rival anything you will personally expel the next day after dining on Chicago style dogs, hot wings and nachos. Unfortunately, I am speaking from personal experience.
In addition to being extremely portable, it is surprisingly comfortable. Dont get me wrong this chair cant compete with the Lazy Boy or Barker Lounger you have in your living room at home, but it definitely beats standing, sitting on the floor or leaning on the armrest of a couch. Unlike your favorite chair at home, you dont have to worry about spilling anything on it since its made of vinyl and can easily be wiped off and cleaned. If you do have the misfortune of wasting a refreshing game time beverage or delicious snack on the surface of your chair, dont worry about it. Wipe it off with a paper towel or the like and when you get it home take a couple of minutes with a spray bottle of soapy water and a soft towel to restore your chair to its original luster. Yes, the chair is made of vinyl and Armor all is formulated for such surfaces, but I would not suggest using this product to clean your chair unless you enjoy struggling to stay seated and want oily spots on your clothes. I have witnessed such a spectacle and conclude that it is best to reserve such a luster for your automobile dashboard.
The chair measures 36 inches in height, 24 inches in diameter and 36 inches in width. Both armrests on the chair are equipped with drink holders. Personally, I like to put a beer in one holder and my cell phone in the other. The chair is primarily electric blue. There is a thick red stripe that covers the sides, armrests and seat of the chair. The back of the chair in which you lean back on displays a Texas Rangers logo with a sheriffs badge. The bottom part of the chair that faces forward displays the team name in lettering that is identical to that of the Rangers uniforms.
Its strong vinyl construction is capable of supporting a person that weighs up to two hundred and fifty pounds. Ive seen people that weighed over two hundred pounds sit in the chair and allow people that weighed between one hundred and one hundred and fifty pounds sit on their lap with no damage to the chair. Needless to say, the chair is, without a doubt, very sturdy. Sterling claims that it is well crafted enough to use outdoors, but I would do this with great caution since there are so many, often unnoticed, sharp objects that might pierce the vinyl skin.
The soft vinyl skin and light weight makes this chair a safe piece of furniture to have around if a dispute between rival fans ends in a scuffle. Perhaps Ranger pitcher Frankie Francisco was used to solving arguments during the off-season using this inflatable chair. Thats the only excuse for his reckless toss of a chair that ended in Jennifer Buenos nose being broken at the Oakland game on September 13th, 2004. On the other hand, perhaps Craig Bueno, the now infamous heckler, perfected ducking chairs by having these inflatable chairs hurled at him during game watching parties. Either way, Francisco might as well purchase one of these chairs. While on suspension, he can sit in it and watch the remainder of what was a once promising season for the Rangers dwindle into dreams of what might have been. I know Ill be sitting in my Texas Rangers inflatable chair knowing that it will take more than harsh words to deflate it. Thats more than I can say for Franciscos ego. Unfortunately, Francisco made a mess with a chair that cannot be cleaned up with soap and water and glossed over with Armor all.
With or without the gloss of Armor all, the Sterling Texas Rangers inflatable chair is a handsome piece of game day furniture that is practical as well as comfortable. If the Rangers arent your favorite team, thats no problem because Sterling manufactures these chairs adorned with the seals and emblems of a variety of Major League Baseball and NCAA teams. I have used my chair while viewing many regular season, playoff and championship games over the years and it has never let me down. It particularly comes in handy for viewing pay-per-view boxing, since overcrowding for such events is commonplace. The retail price is $49.95 which is still cheaper than most boxing and UFC matches cost to watch. I scored my Rangers chair brand new on Ebay about five years ago for $28.00 plus shipping. My advice to perspective consumers is to look around until you find a deal that suits you unless youre in a real hurry to have this chair. I rate the chair five out of five stars for durability, practicality and portability. Its only worth the retail price if you use it frequently.
