What is so attention-drawing about Stila is its wide range of colors. The only other brand I can think of that matches up to this range is MAC. I think Stila and MAC both make great eyeshadows, but MAC is on the edgier, artistic side. They have a lot of bright colors that may require some skill to apply. On the other hand, Stila's colors are so easy to play with. Their tones are generally based on neutral colors, and the more non-traditional colors are very natural too. Below I will give a brief guide, for starters, of the 8 precious colors I've collected thus far.

But aside from color, other great functions of this eyeshadow:
- Being able to use it wet or dry. They become great eyeliners when you use it with a wet brush.
- They really last well throughout the day. I took a nap with it on and after I woke up it was still well on.
- Silky, fine pigments that makes it easy to apply.

Suitability for different colored skins:
Personally I prefer their shimmery collection. The shimmer is so subtle yet the color shows very well. Because of the shimmer, I think it works well for any skin color.

Negatives/suggestions:
- I think it is worth it to buy the tin cases to put the eyeshadows in. If you are going to collect a range of colors, it makes more sense to invest in a 4/6/8 color pan rather than a $2 case make of cardboard.
- I did not have good experience using Stila until very recently. Here's the story: I received as a gift the limited edition Mother's Day gift set in 2002. I don't know if anyone else owns this set and shares the same experience, but I hated this set. There are 3 eyeshadow colors in here, and they do not apply well and the colors don't stay... I do not know what went wrong with that set there. So for a while I never wanted to try Stila again, until recently when I fell in love with the 2004 spring/summer set. So unless Stila was able to change the formula of their eyeshadows within two years (which I doubt), there was something wrong with that set.

So here's the guide of colors:
The first six colors are from the set I mentioned above, the Spring/Summer collection this year (and are no longer sold). It was a great deal, 6 colors for $36. These colors are absolutely gorgeous and perfect for highlighting. They are all shimmery.
1. Sun - a reddish bronze color, exactly as the name suggests, will make u look like you spent a day out in the sun.
2. Oasis - a very subtle golden color.
3. Wheat - the color of wheat. A light, tannish brown that has tones of olive in it. The color does not work well for darker skin tones.
4. Kitten - I've read a lot of great reviews about this color. It's a very shimmery, light-reflective color with ultra fine pigments. The color itself is like a cross between sun and oasis - a bit of red, a bit of orange, yellow and brown.
5. Twilight - a silver color that reminds me of blue. (Goes well with blue)
6. Moonlight - a white perfect for highlighting below the brows.
7. Azur - a deep yet vibrant blue that is gorgeous. This color is so versatile I would suggest it for all skin colors.
8. Pillow - a light blue that has some light green pigments in it. It reminds me of the Caribbean ocean.
