Caprig's Full Review: Stila Lip Gloss 3 Taupe Shine
I got Stila Lip Shine in Taupe for a present. I was very excited as until recently, I never got to see any Stila products. Our area has been a cosmetic desert for years.
I could not wait to try out this new gloss.
WHAT IS STILA GLOSS IN TAUPE SHINE LIKE?
STILA TAUPE SHINE is a very unique lip gloss. It is in a small metal tube about the size of MAC paints if you have ever used those.
It has a black plastic cap on it and the outside simply says " For moisture and shine apply stila lipgloss alone or over lipstick with a brush"
There is nothing else on the tube, except the size, which is 0.26 oz 7.5 g.
There are some cartoonish lips around on the container too. The metallic finish of the tube is aluminum foil looking silver.
The color of the product is a rosy brownish taupe color. It makes a nice cool nude lip, although it is nothing spectacular.
There is some slight silver shimmer in the gloss. The finish is very shiny. The consistency is medium thin. IT is not sticky at all.
HOW DOES STILA GLOSS TAUPE SHINE PERFORM?
To apply this gloss, you have to put it on with a finger or a brush from the tube. The tube does not lend itself to application directly from it.
There is no fragrance that I can smell from it.
Once applied to the lips, it is creamy and has a bit of numbing affect on my lips. I am not sure why. It is not severe, just a bit annoying.
The coverage is moderate. It tends to go on unevenly and the effect is like you might find with a cheap drugstore gloss so it is nothing special at all.
It does moisturize a bit, but the next day I find my lips peel from it more than normal.
There is no depth to this gloss- nothing unique or interesting. It is just boring, to me.
So, with this gloss, I plan to use it with translucent reflects glitter in teal, gold, or other interesting colors to pump up this gloss to something more interesting.
You can also use it over lipsticks for added depth, but I prefer to use unique additives to it for an iridescent effect.

FINAL COMMENTS
I am not overly thrilled with STILA LIP GLOSS IN TAUPE SHINE. It is an okay gloss, but nothing that I would ever buy again. For the price, there are far better glosses out there, and quite frankly, I would be more apt to get some Loreal Colour Juice glosses or HIP glosses before I would get another one of these.
