| MADYL's Full Review: Stila Media Darling Palette: Press Shy |
I could not resist buying the Stila Media Darling Press Shy Palette the first moment I saw it. After reading it had my favorite lip color and some favorite shadows in one set, I felt compelled to buy this palette. There were some colors that I did not own, and I needed to try those out!
I am a huge Stila fan. There is just something that draws me to their products, and I love the color palettes and eye shadows. Most of my palettes include eye shadows and blush. This palette also had the coordinating lip colors, so this is a nice way to get a put together look without having to figure out what coordinates or does not. It will make you feel like a glamorous regardless of where you go.
The kit includes a pearly-white, tri-fold mirrored compact (The packaging is made of cardboard packaged box) and is decorated with the Stila logo and host of little silver glitter stars. Inside there are three Lucite-handled makeup brushes for lips, eyeliner, and eye shadow crease and a whole set of high quality products available in two color combos: Press Shy is the cool toned set that I purchased and the other set is Press Savvy, which is the warm toned set. The palette includes four popular Stila eye shadow colors that are typically sold separate, a blush and a lipstick and gloss with three brushes: an eyeliner brush, a crease brush and a lip brush. The brushes are a nice addition but a little too small for my liking (I prefer the larger Stila brushes that I use), but effective.
Colors include:
Moonlight: a frosty pearl white shimmery eyeshadow that is good a base highlighter for the brow bone. This also looks great under the eyes to add a hint of shimmer. My only word of caution with this shade is since you can build up the color, you can over do it, you will end up with the glittery little mica particles everywhere, so do not use a heavy hand with the application. It is highly pigmented so little goes a long way.
Grace: a shimmery medium taupe brown shade with a hint of mauve tones. This is nice for the lid. Grace is a "must-have" color; it looks great on, and is a top selling Stila shadow color.
Slate: A sheer medium matte shimmery plum gray shade with a slight frost that is great for the crease. This color looks really nice with grace and moonlight.
Espresso: a shimmery deep cocoa brown which looks really beautiful for lining the eyes when you dampen the eyeliner brush.
Bud: matte blush in a cool toned soft nude pink shade. This is a very soft, wearable shade.
Natalie: This is my favorite Stila lipstick color and my first Stila lipstick purchase that started my addiction! The shade is a beautiful, sheer warm plum/berry. Stila founder Jeanine Lobell used created this shade for Natalie Portman for the covers of British Vogue and Vanity Fair. It is a deep berry plum shade that goes on sheer. Since I purchased this shade twice, I knew I needed to get this set!
Rose Shine: a soft nude rose gloss shade with a just a slight bronze sheen. It looks nice alone or over the Natalie lip color.
