lbuffo's Full Review: Alright, Still [UK] [PA] by Lily Allen
With her debut album Alright Still Ms. Allen is making her move into the mainstream. I don't know if it's the Reggae pop sound or her feisty song writing but Ms. Allen has star quality. I find myself sing along in the car to all of the songs on the album, they are so catchy and I find that most women can relate to her storytelling songs.
These 15 tracks (download the extended album from itunes) includes songs about the frustrating guys you meet at the bar that won't take no for an answer("Knock 'Em Out"), being happy when your ex is having a bad day ("Smile"), and my personal favorite the story of your bingo playing grandma who can't stop complaining about being alive("Nan your a window shopper"). She is no teenage role model, but you have to admire her honesty with songs like "LDN"--a love song to a city filled with muggers, and pimps narrated by someone who's cycling because "the filth took away my license."
