Plain Strait Good.

Written: Jan 08 '01 (Updated Jan 08 '01)
Pros:very good, shows work, loud, different styles of music
Cons:fred durst gets annoying on the forever track

I remember first hearing about this so famed album back in September 2000. Then, I only knew that it would be a tribute album to Lynn Strait (1968 - 1998) of the former band Snot. It was just another ho hum CD to me. I wasnt much of a Snot fan back in the day, so it wasnt that big of a deal to me. Then a month later, I heard of all the guest singers on the album. Some including Ozzy Osbourne, Jonathan Davis (koRn), Jason (RKL), Mark (Sugar Ray), Dez (Coal Chamber, Max (Soulfly), and more. I was astounded by all the now-famous idles that were once Lynn's friends.

Finally, November 7th the album came out. I didnt rush to the store to get it, I just waited until christmas. Then finally I recieved the CD on december 25th, rather anxious to hear it (since i had waited 2 months) i popped it in my cd player. The cd starts out with Lynn saying "Do I have to get naked people for you to remember my name? Its Lynn from Snot" then it breaks out into the first song featuring Serj from System Of A Down. Preaching "you are free, freedom in the skies.". Then next comes Take it Back featuring Jonathan Davis of KoRn. Screaming "I am f***ed I am here to remiss, its BS, things dont end like this" while the heavy bass and distored guitar are blasted in the background. Then next is the song featuring hte lead singer of (hed)pe... almost like a spoken word song, but not quite. Singing about wanting to die, he then breaks out screaming in a quiet melody "I know where you're at!"

Next up comes the song featuring Max C. of Soulfly, growling "catch a spirit" with VERY very heavy guitars, bass, and drums in the background. Then next comes the more punkish version of Snot that everyone knows in love. The song features Jason of the band RKL... the song is best known by him screaming "I Love You Lynn!" for the bridge. Next is the more softer side of Snot, the song Divided featuring Brandon of Incubus. Humming the lyrics "You are divided...." could put someone in a mellow more softer mood. After that, its Ozzy Osbourne saying his words for his beloved friend Lynn.

After that track, there are several other tracks. One including Fred of Limp Bizkit singing the song forever. Starting the track off "Snot, Limp Bizkit, Forever! Lynn, God Bless." Also after the Ozzy track, there are songs including Dez from Coal Chamber, Corey of Slipknot, Mark from Sugar Ray, and then finally a recorded track by Snot themselves before Lynn and his dog (Dobbs) passed away in a 3 car accident on highway 101 in southern california. After that there is a spoken word song featuring Lynn Strait. He talks about what its like to be addicted to substances in order to get on with life... very touching.

Oh... there is a track on this CD you have probably already heard if you listen to the radio or watch any music channels on TV. The song "Angels Son" featuring Lejon of Sevendust. A very touching song and a very touching music video. The video features some of Lynns old time friends plus some new ones... its very touching.

There IS a secret track, but it will remain a secret until you go out and buy this CD! I highly recommend it to anyone that is into hard rock/rock/punk or just loves music in general, its a brilliant album and shows alot of love towards the deceased Lynn Strait. God Bless you Lynn! We all love you!
