We paid $79/night at the Stratosphere (main tower) and for a weekend, I found it to be a great deal. The rooms were fine, and the casino was full of people of all ages. I felt comfortable playing some blackjack at the $5 tables. There was a band called "Backstreet" that played in the lounge and they were very enjoyable, playing hits of the 60's and 70's.

I also recommend walking to the Sahara Casino and riding the SPEED rollercoaster. For $13, you can ride an unlimited number of times for the day. The Hilton is also within walking distance.

I can't review the actual Stratosphere Tower because all the rides were closed due to high winds. If you intend to have dinner in the tower restaurant, make a reservation early.

If you plan to visit Las Vegas in January I highly recommend the Stratosphere
