Pros:Reasonable rates, quick check-in and check-out, excellent staff
Cons:Located at the end of the Strip
The Bottom Line: The room rates are very reasonable and the service is great. It's little far from the hearth of the Strip.
My first stay there was a pleasant experience so I went back the second time around. The entire staff I dealt with was very friendly. Check-in was very quick and they explained everything clearly. They also have express check-out where you can drop your keys into a box in the lobby.
The room rates were very reasonable at $29/weeknights (I reserved the room from travelworm.com, otherwise it's $39/night) and $59/weekends. Some places charge outrageous rates for the weekend stay in Vegas.
The rooms are clean with comfortable beds. I paid for a regular room, but they gave me a suite with a little fridge and sitting room. Suite seems like a good option if you are bringing the kids.
They have 2 diners, a deli and a Japanese restaurant (seemed real nice). I tried one of the diners and the deli. Both had great food. I was impressed with the food at the diner. The waitress was the nicest I've ever seen. They gave me a little coupon book at the check-in for little perks like free soft drink with the meals, shows, games, rides etc...
Deli also had great sandwiches, but it closes around 5:00 pm. The room service was little slow and the food was cold. People hardly order room service in Vegas anyway. There are also little fast food places for pizza, burgers, ice cream... There is food at any hour in the hotel.
There seemed to be a ton of dollar, quarter and nickel slot machines. They have shows in the afternoon and evening. I didn't think there was anything worth seeing though. Other places have better shows like Blue Man Group, Cirque de Soleil ... You need to take a cab down the Strip to see those.
One downside of staying at the Stratosphere is the distance from the hearth of the Strip. There is a lot more action down the road. If you don't want to walk a few miles, you need to take a cab. Cab rides are not cheap in Vegas. It can add up. You might as well pay little more and stay in the hearth of the Strip.
