mattyd5's Full Review: Stri Dex Medicated Pads Regular Strength
I bought this product simply out of curiosity. After seeing numerous advertisements for it, I decided to put it to the test.
One perspective to look at this is to say that these pads do in fact dry out and ultimately kill the acne. However, it also is death sentence for people with sensitive skin.
I have more or less normal skin (though dry skin does come up my alley every now and then) and am plagued with your typical acne. When I applied it to my face at night, I woke up with flaky, dry, and slightly red skin. At times, the pimple that I was hoping the Stridex would destroy, became more irritated! For the bigger monster pimples, though, the Stridex pads offered little help. Just wiping them over them didn't help at all. You really would have to pop them first and then use the pads (er, sorry for being so...graphic lol).
Another thing I noticed was that when applied near the eyes, the extremely strong alcohol ingredients would make my eyes water slightly - I would have to close my eyes and let the formula dry for a few seconds.
All in all, I think the pads are best suited for people with very oily skin with NO skin sensitivities, and people with small, minor pimples (I found that it worked best for me to diminish the very tiny pimples.) It also worked well for back and chest acne; the back and chest, personally, did not dry out as easily as the face when I used the Stridex pads.
In general, the Stridex pads are best used for back and chest acne, as I've stated already. As for the face, you may want to try seeing a dermatologist and getting some actual medication; however, I would give the pads a try first and see if it works for you. People with sensitive skin should avoid this product. I mean, if it makes your eyes water, you know that there's some pretty strong ingredients in there...
