Let's hope the "next big one" (Reply to this comment)

is at least 50 years away. It was one of the reasons I moved from California 30 years ago. Just after the "big one" of 1971.

Hey Stewart I did not know you were an Aspie. Did you know that Bobbo428 and st_patrick are as well?

I can sympathise, myself having Asperger Syndrome, but I think the real problem was that they would scratch my scalp rather painfully, and that I was often too lazy as a child to comb my own hair.
I don't think I'm any more physically sensitive to pain than most people. But psychological sensitivity is indeed an issue in my experience, though mine's by no means as bad now as it used to be, and I understand if that's part of the problem.
Sorry if I misunderstood what you wrote,
Stewart.

I do not believe this is what I said. I only know about autistic kids because both of mine are, so I cannot state what typically developing kids will feel or not. Does that make sense?
If it is a problem and also wearing tags in clothes is a problem and then socks are irritating, you could have sensory issues and suffer from sensory integration dysfunction.
I can only share about my children, who are both autistic, so to imply that only autistic kids feel pain when having their hair brushed would not make sense, but all I know is our personal experience, which I then share in my reviews.

...but I never realised you had to be autistic to feel the pain.

Have you looked into No rinse shampoo. I have a toll free number somewhere but they come up in searches and are sold at beauty supply stores and great for kids. ($15)
You can get a sample when you call. Basically you squirt on their head, and then towel dry and it is clean.

My son HATES having his hair washed.... it's NEVER been an easy feat! :( And it doesn't help that the "tear free" shampoos are NOT tear free with him! UGH!
Great review...
