Pros: great for higher vehicle where reach is needed
plastic ice-scraper strong enough for the task
Cons: no probs
It was a cold winter's night in December of 2009. As I was shopping in a local 24 hour pharmacy I spied the Sub Zero 52" Extension Pole Ice Scraper & Snow Broom. It wasn't that I was looking for such a implement, but wind driven snow outside the warm quarters of the retail shop reminded me that I could put such a tool, with an extended reach of nearly five feet, to good use. As I was about to finish my shopping I reached over, picked it up, and through quick examination measured its weight, felt its balance, tried the telescoping mechanism, and drew my hands across the brush and and fingers along the plastic ice blade. It seems to be constructed well enough for my needs. I placed it on the counter so the proprietor could add it to my selection of goods.
Using the Brush Scraper
Once outside I opened the car door, placed my shopping bag within the it and decided to make good first use of my Sub Zero 52" Extension Pole Ice Scraper & Snow Broom. I extended the pole to max length and immediately went to work on the snow that was building on my car the previous hours at home in my driveway.
The vertical brush to handle allows for pushing and pulling. I was driving my wife's mini-van. The extra length and brush made my efforts to push the snow from roof to the other side of the vehicle work like a charm. Once finished with the roof I closed the extension part bringing it in closer so I could do a quick walk around brushing off the windows and head lights. That done I went to my front window that slightly iced up under the new snow when I was in the pharmacy.
I brushed off the loose snow and then turned the tool around using the scraper end to clear the newly forming ice. The plastic is strong and it cleared the film of ice quickly. I was soon in the vehicle and on my way home.
I used the Sub Zero 52" Extension Pole Ice Scraper & Snow Broom just twice since. Both times it did its job. I now have it inside our home and in front of me. My four year old grand daughter is asking what is it and I do with it. When I said I brush my hair with it she said, No!. When I said I clean my toes with the scraper end, she said, No! When I said it was a back scratcher she said, Can you scratch my back with it too?
Examination After Work
Upon inspection the scraper is showing some sign of wear. The brush end is completely intact and none of the bristles seem to be loosening up. The telescoping mechanism works well and the Sub Zero 52" Extension Pole Ice Scraper & Snow Broom is ready for our next snowfall. It will be going out into the car with me on my next trip out.
The ice scraper does its job also and because it's plastic did not and will not scratch the glass of my windows.
I can recommend the Sub Zero brand 52" Extension Pole Ice Scraper & Snow Broom. The extra length was helpful and though the width of the brush area is but 8" or so wide it does provide for good snow removal. If there was heavy wet snow I would still be able to use it. Anything wider and I would have to work on the snow in layers.
