Children’s SudaCare Nighttime Vapor-Plug Helps with Stuffy Noses!

Written: Jan 15 '08
Pros:Fairly inexpensive, refillable, soothing and helps stuffy noses breathe better!
Cons:Don't rub your eyes after handling the pads!
The Bottom Line: Very nice to use rather than the vapor rubs of old and works pretty well too!

For all of those out there that have had a cold with a stuffy nose that won’t allow you to breathe normally and you don’t want to take it anymore.

Or, if you have ever used or had Vick’s Vapor Rub used on you, and you did not like it…this is a product for you. It’s also terrific if you have children!
Keep this product in mind!

The Product

This plugs into the wall outlet and is fairly small. This is roughly 2 inches by 2 inches, and it has a cute nighttime pattern on the top where the vapor comes out (stars and a moon).

It’s refillable, similar to the plug in air fresheners that you have seen and with a similar premise. You take a little refill “vapor plug in” that is about 2 inches by ½ an inch wide and only a 1/8 inch thick and slide it into the plug in.

The plug in needs to be plugged into a 120 volt outlet (which, I believe, most standard house outlets are). You cannot leave it plugged in longer than 16 hours. If you do leave it in that long, you will have to unplug it for a few hours before reloading the waterless tab to use that day or night. The tabs, though, are supposed to be changed every 8 hours!

There are the ever-present warnings (besides those above) telling you about electrical shock and that this is not a toy. But, one consideration that you must be sure to do correctly is to make sure that it is in an area with decent air flow.

One reason good air flow is necessary is so that the medicated vapors can get around the room and help the stuffiness dissipate. Also, you should not use this in small, confined areas or near pets, unless there is adequate ventilation!

They also advise, unfortunately for parents of children under 3 years old, that you are not supposed to use this product. Probably due to the vapors being so strong, is my guess, that little ones should not breathe this into their lungs.

Another item people might not think about is the pad used in the unit. Do not put this on furniture and bedding or fabrics. Also, DO NOT rub your eyes after handling these pad or the unit until you have really scrubbed and scrubbed your fingers! When I tell you of the ingredients, you will understand why.

The Ingredients

There is a blend of aromatic ingredients including menthol, eucalyptus, camphor, mint and rosemary!
They don’t break down the exact ingredients on the box, but this is what is listed and you can immediately tell this is painful if you get it in your eyes!

Overall Impressions

I am very glad that I stumbled across this unit in the store. The plug in comes with a few pads to try and you can purchase refills which is terrific!

My daughter recently has been fighting a cold, mostly in her nose. This vapor-plug has helped her breathe a little better each night. We are supposed to plug it in shortly before she goes to bed to get the vapors in the room, but we do it when she goes to sleep and they seem to work fine. We will smell this vapor permeating her room and wafting into the hallway, so we know it works. But, the truth is in how well it helps her sleep.

As any parent can tell you, when your little one is sick and they are able to sleep, everyone’s a happier person! If you are looking for something that can help open up the clogged nose so you, or a little one, can breathe better, you should really check this product out. I found it in Wal-Mart in the pharmacy section!

~Thanks for spending time with me today!~
