| jloach's Full Review: Sudafed Cold & Cough |
The cold started with a sore throat and progressed to the point where my entire face felt as though it was full of snot. No matter how much I blew my nose, there was always more. All the pressure in my face was giving me one good headache. AND how can I miss work with a common cold? I had no fever. I just felt bad.
I stopped at the local Wal-Mart and picked up a package of Sudafed Cold & Cough. I didnt want any medication that would put me to sleep in front of the computer, so I hunted for anything that said Non-Drowsy. In the past, I had tried regular Sudafed and it had worked well for a headache. So, I thought that maybe I would have similar results with the Sudafed made for Cold symptoms.
WHAT SUDAFED COLD & COUGH CLAIMS TO DO:
Temporarily relieves these symptoms due to the common cold: nasal congestion, headache, minor aches & pains, muscular aches, cough, sore throat, fever, helps loosen phlegm (mucus) and thin bronchial secretions to drain bronchial tubes and make coughs more productive.
Okay. I got to work and took the suggested dose. 2 Liquid Caps for adults and children over the age of 12. Take every 4 hours while symptoms persist. (Do not take more than 8 liquid caps in 24 hours.)
Not more than 30 minutes later, the pressure in my face started to subside. That alone was a great relief. Later on I noticed that I didnt have to blow my nose quite as often and soon I was feeling almost BETTER than I do on a good day.
I did not have a cough. Therefore, I cannot say that it does anything to control a cough. But, I am basing my opinion on the relief of these symptoms: sore throat, headache, and nasal congestion. Sudafed was a little costly, but well worth it. (I paid $5.68 for 20 Luquid Caps at Wal-Mart.) Consider the fact that I have not had to visit the doctor yet ($$) and that I was able to make it through a few days at work ($$), the holiday entertaining, and holiday clean-up without being in so much pain. (It is recommended that if you have to use this product for more than 10 days, or your cough persists for more than 7 days, that you see a doctor.) It may not cure a cold, but it certainly makes you feel better while youre waiting for it to run its course.
There is one drawback. I was so happy with the results of this product, that I was suggesting it to some of my relatives. Some of which have high blood pressure and are on medication for it. They may be unable to use this product. Sudafed suggests that people with diabetes, high blood pressure, thyroid or heart disease consult a doctor before using it. It is also not recommended for people who consume more than 3 alcoholic beverages a day.
